Seeing as how this is the college forum, especially. Cragg has graduated to "Elite" now.

Thread has been corrected from Craig to Cragg ... and moved to Elite forum.

So are people going to start bashing Arkansas distance coaching now? Isn't that mandatory on here? You have their two stars still training there, lincoln and Cragg injured.
Stanford gets bashed when their stars are injured, or not performing as well as they did in college. Wisco takes heat, so does CU, Michigan did. I think it's only fair those fair weather fans bash Arkansas now that the injury bug has bit them as well lol.

What more would you like.. assuming the guy isn't flat out lying, then I don't think you can get a much better 'source'. I mean, even newspapers make ungodly poor mistakes in reporting, so I doubt they should be on the list of reliable sources.
I don't know if he his hurt or not. But he hasn't raced, which is unlike a McDonald athlete to do. McDonald is a great recruiter, good coach, and the first guy who will take your scholarship if you aren't running fast. This makes him the best NCAA coach, I don't know about after college.

I think PuppyKicker was referring to a source with a name and specifically how this person would know about Cragg's injury. There are millions of for former Razorbacks out there and not every one of them know about McDonnell's program or his runners.

Exactly. This is a textbook rumormill situation. Some former runner is hanging out by the Arkansas facilities, he sees Cragg walk by in crutches and overhears him say something about his back. Next thing he's doing is telling people, "yeah, it looks pretty bad, maybe a stress fracture," which gets translated as "stress fracture, out the rest of the season." And that's assuming that the original source actually saw Cragg in crutches. He could just as easily have heard the rumor from somebody else.
I'm not saying that somebody lied, or that the information is untrue. It very well could be the case. But people often go on crutches to relieve pressure on an ailing or sore part of the body as a precautionary measure. For all we know Cragg hasn't missed a day of training.

You lose all credibility when you don't even know how to spell the coach's name. Same goes with the athlete.
Yea, what I say is all wrong because it was late at night, and I typed the coachs name wrong. Agian he is the best coach in the NCAA. But look what he has done when his athletes leave the NCAA

Yeah, seriously. Its not like Cragg and Lincoln both went to the last Olympics, one year removed from NCAA competition.
They really suck.
I said he makes good college runners. Joe Falcon had a good few years, then the injuries started. I'm not saying he isn't a good coach, I'm just saying he has trouble with kids after college.

Yes true, but the same can be said for any coach, not just McDonnell.
Elites get injured all the time, no matter who coaches them.

his older brother Duncan said that when he was his age he had lower back problems. I asked him cause i herd he(cragg) was hurt and he said that it all started with his lower back and i guess its now a stress fracture. what a bummer hope he gets well.

Ouch! Tough luck for Alistair, I wonder when he will race! Do you think he can still try to run in Helsinki? He's lucky this didn't happen last year. Also, El G was injured the entire 1993 track season, he bounced back in 1994 to run a great season! 3:33, 3rd in Francophone Games, run in top Golden League Meets, and fast 5k on world record Ekiden relay!
