I've been in kind of a slump recently... I don't mean that I'm not getting PR's I mean I'm running 5-10 seconds off my best in the 800m for the last 2.5 weeks (7 or 8 races). I've been hyrdating, i've been warming up and cooling down and i haven't been unussually sore... anyone get this before?
by the way this was meant for general forum i clicked on the wrong forum..i had a couple windows open, but hey distance guys will know best anyway...

Racing 7 or 8 times in 2.5 weeks is way too much. That's like, what, 3 times a week almost?

Take a couple days off. It does wonders for me when I'm feeling exhausted.

Be sure you're getting enough sleep.

Be sure you're getting enough rest.
Thought I would make the post even better. :) Was good to begin with, though. Just figured that you could incorporate both sleep AND training in one.

How is your motivation? Sometimes after a couple sub par races your confidence and motivation drops. I would say stick with it, and try something new to get you pumped up before races. Go rent PREFONTAINE and watch it before your meet, do something to get you in the right mind set. Then when you get on the line just try to erease any thoughts of your past prefomances and just try to hammer. I think that with racing so many times a week it makes it very hard to get motivated each time. But in some cases there is nothing you can do about racing a lot.

one of the biigest keys in running is your confidence. you gotta think taht you gonna fly this race and you will. work on the confidence

Along with confidence and getting pumped, start setting some goals if you haven't already. That always gets me movtivated. I have a long term goal for each race I run that I want to hit by sections, but I also have a short term goal for that specfic meet. Your goal could even be as simple as just trying to beat a certain runner in your conference/section. When that guy is dieing on the home stretch of your race, it just gives you that much more motivation to go get him.
