Here are the results of the Jamaican 10000m trials:
Event 13 Men 10000 Meter Run
================================================== ======================
World Record: W 26:17.53 06/13/2005 Kenenisa Bekele, Ethopia
NATIONAL Rec: N 28:32.44 07/06/1989 Mark Elliott
Name Age Team Seed Finals

Finals
1 Gutzmore, Andrew 42 Unattached 34:11.00 37:13.20
2 Feurtado, Micheal 51 Unattached 39:05.78

I know they are sprint-oriented, but I would think they would have a few more entries and some guys who could break 35.

Yowch. The women's 1500 had one finisher (4:44), and I don't see a women's 5000 or 10000 at all, which presumably means they have no one.

But then they have Bolt. And Powell. And Frater.

Although this is purely speculative, I believe that these results may reflect, in actuality, a race whereby entries are limited to those who were born at a time greater in magnitude than forty years to the past of the date at which the aforementioned race was held.lol

There seems to be some confusion about this highly debated topic. I offer you this to help clear things up, but I think this race might have been a Masters Division race.

http://running.about.com/od/arunnersglossary/g/mastersgloss.htm

Definition: The Master's Division in running is for runners who are over a certain age. Unfortunately that age is not standardized. In some places, the minimum age for a master's division runner is 35; in other places, it can be 50. The Masters Track and Field Committee of USA Track and Field (USTAF) bylaws say that a masters athlete "shall be at least 40 years old on the first day of the meet." Most races advertise the age for master's division on the race sign up. Otherwise, it's a good idea to ask.

Pronunciation: mass-ters

Examples: Brad couldn't wait until his 40th birthday, so he could register in the master's division at his next race, in Jamaica.

Yes, one can surely speculate that due to the overwhelming presence of these so-called "masters" in the race about which we are discussing, it was in fact a "masters race," in which each of the participants is, in fact, a "master." In fact.

Guys, have we determined if this the masters division or not. Their ages lead me to believe that this is indeed the masters division, but maybe Jamaica is just really bad at the 10k. I mean they are known for their sprinters. It is just hard for me to believe that only 2 people in the entire country would run the 10k and that each of them would be classified as masters.
