I am so looking forward to seeing the results for this sectional. Everyone is going to be chasing down Belvidere North. There is probably going to be some insane performances.

Paul Zeman FTMFWZZZ B North all day. PR and CLC too, Ballers.
B North is unstopable with all of there runners returning next year..

The Aurora Central Catholic regional should act as a good preview of Belvidere North's lead chase group. Marmion and PR continue to run a tight pack and in typical fashion, CLC is coming together when it counts. This should be a fun one.

Each course is different, whether it is length or the overall conditions (hilly, flat, slow, fast). Also, teams changes. Injuries, replacing starters, and a player waking up and starting to succeed can all play a role

ACC, Fenton, Antioch, and Freeport Regional results are all posted on the IHSA site.
It looks like the top 5 right now are Belvidere North, followed by the ACC Quartet of Marmion, Kaneland, Crystal Lake, and Prairie Ridge.

I think Belvidere North will easily be the top team in the sectional, but the next 2 spots are certainly up for grabs. The Aurora regional the top 3 teams, who are in the sectional, were only separated by 4 points. CLC is certainly on the upswing and I really think they will start to surprise people. Especially with a healthy Alvarez, who I think can take the individual title. Look for them to fill one of those spots, as well as Prairie Ridge who has a tight front pack.

Top 4 teams actually.
Aurora(66), Kaneland(66), CLC(70), and PR(70) were all right there. I agree that Belvidere will win, but these 4 teams could be in any order not far behind.

I like how everyone is discounting Sycamore.
They lost to Kaneland by 9 points at the western sun.
They ran Powers down at that meet. He was second man at regional.
If he was 2nd man at the conference meet they would of been real close to Kaneland or in front of them. One of the 6 teams is not going to get out.
With Kinsely up front Sycamore is going to be in the mix.
They have been there before. So has Kaneland CLC and Belvidere North
Marmion and Prairie Ridge are both great programs but they haven't been in a sectional meet with a team berth on the line. How they will perform under this kinda of pressure will determine the outcome of this sectional.

The course is going to be sloppy at best. All around the baseball field is already a muddy mess and 2 more inches of rain starting tonight is only going to make matters worse, plus all the 90 degree turns are going to be slick. Look for times to be slow. Maybe 5 under 16 minutes at best.
But why would this week be any different than the last 5!
tincup1215
10-29-2009, 12:44 PM
You also have way to many IFs in your rationale. Sycamore is solid, but like Kaneland 2 years ago, I see them finishing 6th even though they are a top 10 team in the state.
We'll see how saturday goes, it'll be a day for the mudders.
They got Kinsley, but if their pack doesn't tighten up they won't make it out

the girls' sectional preview doesn't seem to take into account that ACC is one of the fastest courses out there -- i know conditions were bad this year, but they were bad at all of the regionals.
i think on the girls' side we'll see st. francis and st. viator battling for the team title - slight edge to st. viator as they have a front runner in winter, st. francis' two top girls will get pushed back a little in the more competitive field. after that woodstock is tough with the beatties up front. crystal lake central, burlington central, kaneland, and belvidere north look strong, but i wouldn't count out montini, lakes, or sycamore either.
i agree with moocher that the wet course conditions will definitely play a part. running smart around the sharp, slick turns is going to be huge on saturday.

Um what? PR got 9th place at state in 2001 and was in contention for state berths as recently as 2006 in the big boy class, that's not that long ago. It's certainly a lot more than fricken Kaneland has done

By the way in 2001 PR did not get any place at state and Kaneland finished
6th at the Wheaton North sectional 8 points from 5th. 4 of the top 5 in the state came from that sectional. WWS tanked to 21st. Kaneland also had an enrollment of about 800 at that time. But again the the boys on the current team were 9 year olds and gained nothing from this. But somehow that is significant to you and your all knowingness!

Although the guys on the current team were not there in 2000 or 2006, they have been on varsity long enough to gain sectional experience. The team has been young the past couple of years so many of the current varsity team has run sectionals in the past.

I'm the one who's ignorant? If you want to go back before 2000 then you need to realize that PR wasn't a school yet and was a part of Crystal Lake Central and you REALLY don't want to go there.

Both Kaneland and PR run in invites that are better than the AA state meet so I really doubt that Kaneland has an edge on experience just cuz they got to run in the AA state meet last year

now you're comparing apples to oranges. You rip Kaneland's history and then you get all defensive about CL and PR when I never questioned it? Crystal Lake was and still is good. I know this because I actually know my history.
For someone with a lot of posts, you sure don't read or research well. Keep up the good work with the rankings though

I was ripping the notion that someone said that Kaneland would be more prepared than PR because they had "been there". I pointed out that there is nothing to show in the last 10 years that Kaneland has "been there" more than PR. You decided to bring up history longer than that, not me, and I pointed out that PR didn't exist then and was part of Central. Reading comprehension is a good thing, you should try it some time. Sarcasm? Not your best suit.

lol this was funny.
But I believe that Kaneland won't make it, they could fall all the way to like 8th in my opinion. Lakes Community was in a meet with CLC earlier this year, (the wauconda inv.) and would have been one place behind them had their best runner not dropped out due to an injury(he is back and 100%). Sycamore's regional times were horendous. I just think that everyone will be surprised on how things turn out. It will be an exciting race.

Feel free to go back in this thread though and find you're justification. I'd start with post 36 and read. Maybe you'll see the light.
Maybe you could do a Power Rankings of School's History since you seem to know so much about Illinois XC?

Zoompast +5,
I'm never questioning Moocher again, good call on Sycamore qualifying.
It's unfortunate Crystal Lake finished 6th as they are definitly a top 10 team in 2A.
Watching Kinsley, Alvarez, and Zemen battle it out was awesome. Hopefully it'll be nicer next saturday so we can see some faster times. That wind was brutal.
Swoosh do you have selective reading problems or are you busy getting "insider" information to do your Rankings?
Ex: OMG I heard Fairleigh went 2:08 on his 2nd set of 800s during practice so he gets moved up from 15 to 13! Also was told Zemen had a hangnail on the outside of his pinkie so he drops from 23 to 24.

I spoke to her coach, who told me the flu got her this week. She gutted it out but just missed qualifying. It's a shame - she's a great runner and I can't wait to see her in track.

Well i was at the Belvidere sectional today and there is no doubt that it was an awesome race between Zeman, Alvarez and Kinsley! Also knowing Elward won his sectional...this coming weekend should be super exciting! Many individuals are starting to shine and peak at the right time...but who will win it ALL?!?!
