How insane is it that Donohue can score in both the jav and the distances.

is the college jav the same weight as the high school jav? what was donahue's jav PR in high school? has she improved at all? i know she doesn't focus on the event, but i doubt if she spent much time with it in high school either.

Very nice Qer for Donohue in the 800. Looks to be a substantial PR unless I have missed something. Anyone know for sure?

Very nice Qer for Donohue in the 800. Looks to be a substantial PR unless I have missed something. Anyone know for sure?Joe, it sure looks like a big PR. I did a little checking on that & I can't find anything faster than a 2:08.41. then again, UNC's athletics web site is a disgrace.

I would have though Erin to have run faster by now..she must have split faster

King, you might be right about the split, but I am almost positive that she has not run faster than Rube indicated. I searched too and found nothing. Remember than until this year, they had Alice Schmidt running the open 800 and winning NCAA titles. Erin would not have had much of a chance to run those races given that.
If this is a 2 - 3 second PR after almost 4 years she has got to feel like she is on top of the world. Long years of hard work pay off in a big way. Congratulations to Erin Donohue!

Also - coach of Maryland is Andy Valmon. While his teams aren't exactly setting the conference on fire - 9th for the men, last for the women - he is starting to get some pretty good athetes there, freshman and sophs. The men's 4 x 4 ran 3:11+ - which is light years ahead of what they had been running in the past.
Wouldn't be suprised if that team becomes an east coast 4 x 4 power very shortly. valmon did the same thing to gtown a few years ago.

Recent Blair Academy grad Anna Hay, a frosh at UNC, scored 8 points for her team at the ACC championships as well. Having a season comparable to Jimmy Wyner (in terms of growth), Anna is a double regional qualifer:
3 Anna Hay FR North Caroli 10:17.38 6
7 Anna Hay FR North Caroli 16:49.68 2
This is from a girl who ran her first track race in the winter of her senior year of high school.

Yeah that is her, she won FL northeast senior division after training for a few weeks. She is a tremendous talent and will only keep getting better.

Hey- any other top runners coming out of Blair in the next year or so? Sounds like the runners are taking after the wrestlers?

Kiley austin young looks to be pretty good, he broke Kerrigan's MAPL championship record in XC and will have another shot to better it next year. I heard he ran 4:24 already but that hasnt been confirmed so Im not really sure. This kid looks to have a good future he just transfered in from a school in Mass that didnt have a track program so he is now just getting into it.

i coach at the oak knoll school in summit, nj... we are a njsiaa school, but we can also compete in the nj prep state championships... i saw him running a couple events... ran 2:04.8 closing in like 58 high for the last lap... he has a real smooth and dynamic stride (looks a little like alan webb)... if he is a junior with a 4:24 mile pr and that type of close speed, he has a bright future...
anna hay was impressive last season at the preps running close to 5 flat (mile) and doubling back in the 2mile running under 11:10 with only less than an hour of rest... she did run just under 11 for 2miles i think last spring and she also ran around 10:10 (i think) for 3k at penn last spring...
so the 10:17 steeple is super impressive and so is the 5k = nice double... she will probably be a sub 10 steepler next year.
