Why a negative thread that dwells on guys who went downhill? Why not a thread about guys who improved greatly, thus inspiring younger viewers to greater heights as they will be counted upon to do battle with the Mongol hordes of NY and NJ?
Just thought i would make it

He ran track and cross country in junior high, ran track and played soccer for 3 years of high school. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of him going to watch the DGS invite, seeing guys like Mac run fast, and deciding to quit soccer and run full time.

In the MSL, Ryan Craven went from 50 in state to 4th.

Nick Farina went from a 4:46 his sophomore year to a 4:23 split at Stevenson.

Those aren't exactly out of nowhere.

Those aren't exactly out of nowhere.

Perhaps not out of nowhere, but I don't think anyone expected either one of those kids to jump to where they are now, based on last years' results.
Especially since, as sophomores, their times last year were with a year or so of training and shouldn't have had such room for improvement.

Is Farina a senior? If so, 4:46 to 4:23 would be expected. Craven may have just had a bad race, he was pretty good last year.

I don't recall Craven being good last year. I thought he got the sixth qualifying spot out of sectionals.

No one is saying it isn't good, but 6 in sectionals to 4 in state is a hell of an improvement...
