doing some nice stuff in recent weeks. On April 9th...
Freshmen Patrick Mellea and Jeremy Zagorski finished first and second, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run. Mellea won the race with a mark of 14:53.91 and Zagorski finished in 15:03.38.
Big personal bests for both. A week later, the BC Eagles went 1-3-5 with DiVottorio winning in 1:52pt. Mallea was 3rd in 1:53.36 and Zagorski was 5th in 1:53.62. Both personal bests.
Good work.

Zagorski

All PR again
3:51.xx, 3:51.xx and 3:52.xx I think..I am waiting on web results. I saw the race on video , these three guys will do some very nice things at BC.

Some more Jersey action at the night meet in Eugene...mostly supplied by Texas coach Jason Vigilante's troops...
1500- Texas' frosh Manzano 3:42.89 for the win, 'Horns teammates Ponsonby 2nd in 3:43.49...Miller 6th in 3:46.22...Castenisano 10th in 3:47.80. Hmmm, good 4x1500 there perhaps? Steve Slattery in 3:50.xx. Wife Sara won the 5k in 16:04.91.
Steeple- Texas with two more solid at 8:51 and 8:55
5000- Millburn HS's Mark Nichol continues his great year with 13:54.34 for 6th. Frosh Erik Stanley 14:09 and the Longhorns lone x-c All-American Middleton 14:11.
Nichol's NCAA x-c finish in the triple digits and Texas' team place of 12th clearly was a very off day after seeing what they done on the track indoors and out. Look out for them to be a definite top 10 team this fall in the Grote Poll with an outside shot at a coveted top 4 trophy. Clear favorites for those will be Wisco and CU at the top, and then many will vie for the other two. I really have a strong and unhealthy dislike for both Oregon (morseo now with their newly "eligible" frosh) and Stanford and would take great joy seeing not just Colorado but also Texas beat them. I would like build a shrine and post the results at The Wall in Bernardsville...permanently. Not that anybody would care.
Great to see Zagorski and Mellea running well. Seems to be a back and forth thing going on there...two real talented, frosh teammates, they can help each to great things at BC. I'll enjoy watching them run at Penn.

Very nice race by TX Frosh, Kyle Miller. The 3:46.22 moves him just ahead of NJ alum Jimmy Wyner (3:46.42) on the Class of 2004 List.

Great news, makes for even more intriguing spectating Friday afternoon. I remember 13 years ago another Jersey frosh anchoring Seton Hall, Bryan Spoonire, and he got the stick out front, which did not last long with Henry from Arkansas and G'town's Holman in the race. BC is quietly making impressive steps forward this year.

My bad on BC call for DMR..they divided "Champ" race into two sections on time..and a third added.
BC is in second section with Cornell frosh phenom Jimmy Wyner I believe.
Section One contains:
Ark
Michigan
Indiana
Nova
Gtown
etc.

A very different story.
Penn has had 3 sections of the men's DMR on many occasions. Section 2 is a much better fit for BC. They should contend.

You are right Scotty, altho I thought we both agreed that if they were in heat one that was also a good thing.
What happened was the fax came and said confirmed in event 153 "Champ of America" Race
It did not list entrants..in the program it is listed as one event not multiple and there are 53 entrants.
they will most likely be in with Lasalle, UConn, Columbia , Iona etc.

Totally agree. Heat 1 of the men's DMR is a GREAT thing. Take it whenever you can get it, I say. A great Track experience.
I just meant that I was a bit surprised they were in the First section. Hearing that they are in Section 2 makes much more sense. That's what I meant by "better fit."

Penn Relays College notes - from the Courier News website www.c-n.com</FONT>
It was a banner day for Skyland Conference alumni in the college women's events and a golden one for former Voorhees High School standout Lindsay Owen.
Owen, a sophomore at Duke University, turned in a 56.1 400-meter split to help Blue Devils win the distance medley championship in 11:10.18. They barely held off North Carolina, which got a 4:39 anchor mile from former Haddonfield star Erin Donohue.
The win entitled Owen and her teammates to a victory lap and a medal ceremony on the infield podium. The last local athlete to capture a college championship at Penn was Scotch Plains-Fanwood's Karl Jennings, who won the men's shuttle hurdles with Tennessee in 2001.
In other alumni action, Hillsborough grad Erin Crawford placed third in the 400 hurdles in 57.97 for Virginia, Franklin grad Kim Lyles anchored Pittsburgh to the second-fastest time in the 4x100 heats (44.38) and Governor Livingston grad Dana McCurdy split 56.2 as Pennsylvania won the Heptagonal 4x400 (3:42.62).
In the distance medley, Hunterdon Central grad Shannon Hawrylo led Virginia off in fourth place with a 3:26 split for 1200 meters.

That seems blazing for Shannon, she's been doing pretty well this season.
Camden grad Dwight Ruff gets second in the first heat of the 400IH with a 51.05, along with:
1 52.61 14 Reuben McCoy Auburn (heat 7)
7 54.93 32 Michael Bolling Clemson (heat 2)
Also, in the 10K on Thursday night:
16 30:33.29 31 Hany Abdallah New York University
18 30:34.66 17 Iuri Pinto East Stroudsburg
29 31:10.22 56 Matt Piccarello Tennessee
