I understand squats help with developing power and helping with sprinting speed. Also what's the difference between deadlifts and squats as far as developing power?

as far as developing power, the deadlift will help just as much and maybe more than squat. i still like the squat better for two reasons. one is that in the squat you have to be in control both on the way down and back up whereas the deadlift you lift and drop which i believe is less benifitial. secondly, the squat requires and developes balance. you have several supporting muscles that will be worked in the squat to keep you from falling over. many of these can be just small fibers in a muscle that need to be worked to help balance. i wouldn't do just one or the other, do both, but i consider the squat to be a better lift. just my opinion.

Squats are better for people in H.S. I was told dont start deadlifts till your in college. But at times I disagree with that. I still do them from time to time. Iam not a big fan of them, cuz I never get sore or tired from them, even if it is heavy weight. Squats go with sprinters like PB & J... Its essential.
