View Full Version : Dyestat IL top 25 Poll

I think it would be interesting to see what a poll would look like for top 25 teams and individuals if the posters on Dyestat all voted. If like 10-15 or so people (preferably Dyestat regulars who know what they're talking about) wanted to do this, I would add up the votes and post the poll every week. Anybody interested?

Considering how much the dyestat "regulars" seem to know, this seems like a pretty flawed idea. I guess it'd be interesting, though.

Alright, let's do this...
Anybody who wants to vote, PM me your top 25 individuals and teams. If your votes aren't in by Tuesday night, then you're out and if I don't get both individuals and teams you're out. After this week I'll say votes are due by Monday night, and if they're not in by then, you're out for the rest of the year unless you let me know before hand that you wont be voting for a particular week. If I get some bogus voting like Proviso West as #3 or something like that, you're out too. I'll say that the polls will be totaled and posted by Wednesday night. Voting will go like this: 25 points for #1, 24 for #2....1 for #25. Also, try to make this as legit as possible, if you don't really know that much about Illinois XC then don't vote.

good idea, r u going to post vote totals as well as places? This seems like a good way to do this and should produce some very interesting results.

Yes. Also, this is boys AA only. And I'm also going to post everybody's screen name who voted in the poll. If you have a problem with this, let me know in your PM.

I dont think that a bunch of high school kids talking about running teams is a very good indication of which teams are good and which ones arent. I mean since you guys are really informed about every team in the state of Illinois and all you know the runners, there problems, the set backs and strides forward. Think about it, what could a bunch of guys that report and get paid to cover high school cross country know about it, jack right? The High school kids know much better than the adults do. A bunch of kids that sit around and talk about the guys who run fast are not the ones who amount to anything. The guys who get out there and do the work are the ones you read about in the paper on sunday morning after a big invite. So get out and run.

That would be kind of a pain to post every person's polls who voted, and I dont think too many people care. I guess if there is some kind of question, I could post people's polls.

To quote Billy Madison:
"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
Seriously though, have you ever heard of a coaches' poll. It's the same principle. Obviously not every single person is going to know everything about every single team and runner, but since there is a wide range of voters, they will each be able to lend their individual perspective to their poll, and the sum of everyone's individual perspective should equal a pretty good representation of which teams and runners are the top 25.

You spent way too much time writing that when this is just a fun thing for some of the posters here to do. Also considering ALOT of the best runners in the state post here, I think you need to get off of your high horse.

In my opinion, you need to stop lecturing people on dyestat, especially when it doesnt hurt anybody and people are just trying to have a little fun.
