... what my avatar is? It has to do with track. If you can guess it, and you are NOT a legend's lounge member, you will be admitted.
I know this is a little juvenile, but we can have SOME fun here ... and this is actually kinda cool and something I didn't know about.
p.s. It doesn't count if you know about this because you saw it on Yahoo (I'm trusting people will be honest!)

but isn't that handsome dan, the mascot at yale? just saw a segment on espn -- their quarterback (and captain) is from my hometown and was interviewed during the segment...
not sure if that's the retiring handsome dan or the new one...

I got a PM from the poster Bud E 84 ... he was the first of a handful ... it is the newly-crowned mascot for the Drake Relays this week.
The AP cutline from the photo:
Tiberius sits on the throne after being crowned the winner of the 26th annual Drake Most Beautiful Bulldog Contest, Monday, April 25, 2005, in Des Moines, Iowa. Tiberius is owned by Karen and Phil Swift of Ankeny, Iowa. The pageant kicks off the Drake Relays festivities at Drake University where a bulldog is the mascot.
You didn’t have to get the Tiberius part right, but just making the Drake Relays connection.
Bud E 84 will be approved for posting here tonight.
Of course, he sent me a PM ... since he wasn’t already in the LL and that’s what the incentive was ... :)

Picard is claerly the superior officer.
Picard was a politically correct wuss!!! He was more of a diplomat than captain. The best thing I ever read comparing Picard and Kirk went like this:
The Enterprise comes across a Romulan ship crossing over the neutral zone into Federation Space, the two captains of the Eneterprise respond as such:
Picard: "Romulan ship, you have until the count of three to turn back One...Two...Three...look we really mean it, we're going to have to do something not very nice to you if you don't listen, please turn around."
Kirk: "Romulan ship, you have until the count of three to turn back or we'll use any means necessary to stop you. One...Two...FIRE PHASERS AND PHOTON TORPEDOS!!!"

Please. Picard faced enemies that would have made kirk soil his pants. First contact anyone? The line must be drawn here?

Kirk can outclass Picard anyday whether it's with the green skinned alien ladies or on the bridge barking out orders. Picard was a politically correct tea sipping wuss; Kirk was an ass-kickin' hard drinking cowboy that made his enemies cry and the ladies squeal with delight.
You can have your First Contact, I'll take Kirk battling the greatest villian ever... KHAN!!! You have not watched over the top acting if you haven't seen Shatner and Montalban square off in Space Seed or in ST II TWOK.

I have seen them all my friend (Voyage home is far and away the best of TOS movies). Khan was a good villain, but I'll take the Borg anyday. Khan never seemed too threatening, or plausible even (in Star Trek context of course). Picard kicked ass when he had to, Kirk kicked ass because he liked to. Not my kind of officer :D
Feelings on Sisko?

Voyage Home was very good, but by no means does it touch ST II, which was the truest to the form of the original series, probably because it's basically a sequel to the classic episode Space Seed. All joking aside, I thought the Next Generation was very well done, particularly when they started to find their groove after a couple of seasons. And yes, the Borg were excellent villains. My one criticism is that the show was a bit too talky with techno-babble at times, particularly when they were showcasing the vomit inducing Wesley Crusher. Overall a very good series, but I remain partial to the original series and their side splitting cheapo special effects, etc. Just my personal opinion though, as both were well done shows.
I did not watch much of the other series (DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise)...just couldn't get into it as much as I got older.
Kirk and Picard are analagous to the old saying about Coe and Ovett. They said that Coe (Picard) is the type of guy you'd be very happy to have your daughter bring home to meet the family. Ovett (Kirk) is the type of guy you'd like to have on your side in a barroom brawl.

I was a Wesley Crusher hater as well. I enjoyed his reduced role later in the show. TNG got a tad bizarre toward the very end though, whereas DS9 hit a quite different groove after a while.

Kalaby completely correct here. Picard couldn't have even handled the Tribbles without help.

This is merely a competition for second place, Spock dove head first into the Enterprises’ main reactor AND came back from the dead. (He was also Galvatron’s voice in Transformers the Movie :D)

This is awesome. You old people make me laugh :).
But. I must admit. I have watched all the Star Trek movies, and I know all the characters, I've been to the Enterprise in Vegas, my favorite movie is First Contact and my favorite character (especially when I was a little girl, was Deanna Troi. I wanted to be her.. correction: I was her.
Darn,
I think I can admit to being a Trekkie.. :o

I am bringing it back. I loved TNG, especially Warf, he was the man/klingon and I love Data. Q, however, was by far the best character on that show. Just the idea of Q is crazy and cool. First Contact was a very, very good movie and the Borg were by far the best villains. I loved in Voyager when Species 8472 and the Borg went at it. I am natural-born trekkie (my father is a Federation citizen). DS9--I watched it, but it got kind of lame because they didn't go anywhere. I liked the Dominion War however. Enterprise just hasn't done it for me and as I have had more schoolwork I haven't watched it much at all, although I always have liked the time travel.
As for Kirk vs. Picard, I love them both. Kirk was clever, but rash, Picard was calculating and suave (I love Patrick Stewart as an actor), I am going with Picard.
