This is too much. Must be German April Fool's Day or something.

This has been mentioned on my hometown forum...and from one of the more intelligent people (He's a doctor.) and he hasn't said it was a joke. He said it's been talked about on a LOT of science blogs and they're not sure what's up.

But I suppose it could still be a hoax :p

if this is some sort of unkown super-virus and it was passed to humans we could have some real trouble on our hands...especially if we really can't find out what it is

Actually I've heard reports of this from other European countries as well.

This may be bad news down the road as scientists usually observe frogs as they are good bio-indicators for the quality of an environment.

Something in the St Paul Pioneer Press about it today.

One explanation, aparently, as odd as it sounds.....Crows pecking out the liver of the toads, the toads act in self defense and puff up, and pop because of the lack of liver....Though, it's just a theory...

KenA, can you find the link to that?

Here's the article that blames the warty carnage on Heckyl & Jeckyl, anybody remember that cartoon?

Heckyl & Jeckyl? Heck Yeah!

Anyway, now I know what NOT to do the next time a bird tries
to peck my liver out...
