Okay my best friend is a triple jumper. My school just got Indoor Track and of course they hired a idiot to be our coach. He has no idea what a triple jump is let alone how to coach for it.
My friend jumped 37 7'1/2 last year as a Junior. It was his first year of running and he only did Outdoor. Now he has done Summer training, and Cross Country. He is getting very strong.
What are some types of trills or any type of training activities to get stronger and better at each phase of the triple jump that you would recommend for him.
thanks for your time.

one legged hops for distance, walking lunges, pop-ups, three step aproach triple jump. these are a few of what i do mainly during the season. they are done for technique(except the lunges). pre season, just focus on general overall strength and get out and do some sprinting. hope this helps.

You need to lift!!!! Squats, dead lifts, power cleans, weighted jumps/jump squats.
Also depth jumps are really good for Triple Jump. Also wearing a weighted vest and doing rythm bounding. All good.
Finally don't let your second phase be a quick change phase. Ride that second phase out. Let the ground meet your leg not the reverse.

be CAREFUL with weighted vests.. i know multiple people who have broken their ankles using them PROPERLY... A friend who plays basketball was being privatly trained off season by a professional trainer, and he landed wrong on his foot with a weighted vest, and his ankle snapped...
so just be careful if you use them; wouldnt want to see that happening to you
