Last year as a freshman, my TJ was 39'4" (no specific training at all, and no advanced techniques like extending legs at the end and performing evenly spaced jumps). With intense relevant training and perfection of technique, would it be possible to reach 44 ft by this year and 47 ft by senior year?

And is it normal for you to be good at TJ, but mediocre at Long Jump? What are some strategies for LJ and TJ?

its impossible to tell as of yet.. depending how you develop, you could hit 47' in a year or two, or you might never jump over 42'.. everything is so individual, all you can do is work as hard as you can and do the best your body allows you to do.... but i would say that 43-44' isnt a bad goal for this year, considering its only your second year, you probably will make some large improvements... just dont get frustrated when you're down, and keep working, and you very well might hit 47' a few years down the road!

here's my progression for long and triple
8th grade-36', 15'
freshmen-36', 16'
sophmore-41'8", 18'
junior-44'3", 21'3"
senior goal-47', 22'6"-23'
you can take that any way that you want. everyone is different.

Wow, that's a HUGE improvement.

Don't most people improve a lot only early on and a little bit from junior-senior?

You improved like 3-4 ft every year..

Definitely 40+ for triple jump, not sure about long jump.

If you are going to go for 40' triple jumping, might as well gof or 20' in the long jump.. You're talking about a 4' triple improvement, compared to just over 1.5' in long jump.. id say *in most cases*, that is about equal

BTW, my progression:

9th - 16'10" long jump

10th - 18'6" long jump, 38' triple jump

11th - 20' long jump, 42' triple jump

(goals for this year - 21' long jump, 44' triple jump)
