Did anyone see the South coach after the D1 girl's race? I walked passed him yelling at junior jess barton about how she "tripped" one of his girls. He tried to get her disqualified but it appears that she actually helped the girl when she fell. what a good sport. that was totally out of line of the coach to yell at a runner for something she didn't do.

I think it's out of line to yell at another coach's runner period.

Although I didn't see it, one of my teammates filmed the race and everyone I've talked to who either saw it happen or saw the video thinks Jess tripped her.

I doubt Barton intentionally tripped her, I really doubt it, she seemed to be in control most of the race. But didn't something like this happen at the Outdoor State Meet as well??

Jess didnt trip the girl, she pushed her (trying to make her go into the lead?) and the girl fell down.

from what i've heard, jess did not push her. I heard kelsey fell and jess got spiked from it. then when kelsey fell, she helped her up.

I saw the video, and it appears Jess intentionally pushed Kelsey down into the mud.
Later on, Steve talked to the NN coach about the incident, and, but decided not to DQ her, b/c he respects NN and wants Kelsey to have another shot at Jess at All-States.

it's not meant to be judging anyone. jess would never hurt another. have you ever talked to her? she is by far the kindest girl anyone could ever meet. wouldn't hurt a butterfly. plus, although kelsey is an effin beast (by far the craziest talent i've ever seen), her time was 19:04 and that was her pr (i think?). again not trying to belittle kelsey, but jess's time in the 5k is 18:55. jess was the all-state champion and frankly i don't think kelsey could have gone that fast. i guess we'll see what happens.

on a lighter note, props to all that ran today. jess was very expected to dominate. kelsey, despite her fall (however way it occured), she pulled through with a fantastic time.

Jess ran a wonderful race and did not trip or impede anyone. She has all the reason in the world to be proud of being the Division 1 champion! She has returned to top form after being sick and will challenge again at All State!

it was states. the only reason i rmembe that is b/c north missed the state record by .04 of a second. i think the record is 7:53.86.
