View Full Version : best TJ Spike........true or false?
Hi, I see in a site this:
Although the adiStar jump spikes are very well designed, they have one flaw. With only three spike lineing the ball of the jumpers foot, it gives little support to roll with, unlike the Nike jumping spikes, which have a considerable amount to roll of of your foot with. That would be my only complaint.
three spike lineing...Reebok Foster, AdiStar, New Balance
Four spike lineing... Asics, Nike zoom TJ
well did you think that the 4 line spikes are better than 3 line spikes??
What spike did you think that are the best, for TJ?
The reebok foster TJ are a good choice??
Thanks c ya

The actual spikes that come with the adiStar are very difficult to get in. My spike wrench wouldn't get them all the way in, and I had to use pliers to get them almost all the way tightened.
I didn't fine only having 3 spikes was a flaw. The adiStars had a pretty good amount of support. It's just that you can't get the spikes in...so I hate them. I wouldn't buy them again. But if you don't mind loose spikes and continually retightening them, they are pretty good.

I used the Nike ones and I would never use anything else.
Unfortunately my college is sponsored by Adidas, so I guess I'll be forced to use them this coming spring.
But what tipe of plate are better for TJ the one with 8 spikes (nike, asics, Mizuno) ore the 7 spike plate (reebok, Adidas, New Balance)
???

I dont think there is a "better" one, its just personal preference. There are people that do well in 8 spike plates, and there are people that do well with 7 spike plates.
I have a friend that jump in this ones:

if I had a pair of sprinting spikes and a TJ spike and I had to long jump .. which one should I use?(our school just has a bunch of nike stuff and they proved nike zoom superfly G5's and I think I might go and get a pair of zoom TJ)
I'm thinking obviously TJ, but LJ spikes do look a lot like the typical sprinting spikes so I was wondering.
& what would be the best combo TJ/LJ spike in your opinion ... are there even LJ/TJ shoes? I'm totaly oblivious to this...
mmmmm well, the last season I LJ in a sprint spikes, and I have trouble with my heels, so I Think that is better to use TJ spikes to LJ.....
the only TJ/LJ spikes I know are the asics, but I never wore it, and I don´t know how do they feel and work...

i have the asics.. they're definitely a decent shoe for both long and triple jump... and then, as i said, last spring i got the orange reebox triple jump shoes.. which basically make it feel like gods are massaging my feet as i jump farther than i should be able to...
anyway, IMHO, triple jump shoes are basically just long jump shoes with more padding on the heel, and set at a SLIGHTLY different angle.. there is no doubt in my mind that you should use triple jump shoes over sprint shoes for long jumping.. or risk not jumping as far, and getting hurt!

Does anyone wear this ones to jump, or know if they are good in TJ or LJ?

People can give their opinions all they want. It doesnt mean much when it comes to what shoe is best for you. If your friend is the same size as you, you could maybe try them on, or go to a store with them and see if you like the fit.
