we had only the second girl from mississippi ever qualify for nationals today, it was mcgee in 17:19, the 4A state champion from pass christian...thats what they get for pissing her off with katrina

max holman came in second with a 10:05 3k for the 13-14 year olds
i came in 18th with a 17:08 (i think) in the freshman race
kathyrine (spelling?) holman came in seventh in the girls 13-14 year olds

i dont know about max's and kathyrine's races... i heard something about there being a jv and a 13-14 and there were mixed genders in their two races. it was confusing.

so....i talked to cory mcgee today after the race and she said that they called called the people at footlocker twice to confirm that she was going to be able to qualify for san diego and both times they said she could. I dunno what the deal is. All I know is that I sure didn't run a 17:19 5k when I was 13.

Wow, in that case, that sucks for her. That's an incredible performance. You ran extremely well, too, Daniel. Congrats.

sweet races to everyone....i think i remember hearing that the course was fast...or was it fast only b/c of all the competition?

Probably a little of both. It is a pretty fast course. There is one pretty big steep hill at about one and a half miles and the rest is pretty flat. It is most definitely accurate. They have markers every 200 meters.

Actually in my opinion all the competition slowed me down. Everyone goes out so fast it's hard to get around people till past halfway in the race where it opens up.

i hear ya...
first mile was 5:21

i got trapped at the hill because they went slow on it and i go fast on hills

after i broke away i ended up pulling off a 17:08 for 18th and i fought my way up from like 50s the whole race
