First, congratulations to everyone who competed at Footlocker.
I'm coming out of retirement after two years of no serious training. I've already begun the training. I'm going to run XC for Millsaps next year. So if there's a chance that you might race me watch out is all I'm saying. PXCVAR THIS MEANS YOU!!!!! BUTCH ARD THIS MEANS YOU!!!!

PXCVAR/SCAR:
I'm Jack. I used to run for Tupelo and graduated in 2004, i.e. the same year as famous runner and teammate Robert Scribner. I found out that you and some other Pearl runners were running at MC after checking results to see how Millsaps had run at meets, what the other teams that came to the local meets were like, etc. A little known fact is that Coach Ard used to be our coach at Tupelo. The first year I ran XC was his last year at THS. He won't remember me though, so just tell him Robert Scribner sent me.
I have a bad habit of calling out people on Dyestat and then not backing up my claims. You may or may not remember when I called out Bryce McKay, another former THS runner, personally challenging him to race me in a local road race. You could still probably find the thread. Just search for Bryce McKay on the Ms board.
However, I will back up this claim, unlike all the others.
Oh and Zach Herrington too...
THIS MEANS YOU!!!!!
PXCVAR/SCAR did you intentionally choose your new name to rhyme with your old name in honor of your old name?

Ben Hubors, you better be aware because Jack is coming after you like a freight train coming after a man tied on the railroad tracks.http://www.footlockercc.com/2005/pictures_so/headshots/pages/B4_Ben_Hubers_south_headshot_jpg.htm

I know the coach as Millsaps. His name is David Rop and the rumors are true that he was a fast runner. He use to run for Jackson State and currently owns most of there records. I think he owns the choctaw 8k record with a 23:18 but i dont know thats what my coach said.

Do you run at Jackson State bobthemileagebuilder?
23:18 on Choctaw that is insane.

yeah I just transfered i use to run for brandon high school but signed to north texas last year. Yeah Rop was something special somebody needs to ask him to check if that is right i know its close but like i said my coach isnt to trust worthy but he was a beast. He beat David Kamani (not sure spelling) who use to own the Ncaa record in something. when i say he beat him it was in some race in the middle of the season not at Ncaa's.

Does JSU have XC and Track? And is Rop the coach at JSU too? How does that work?
i know jsu has track and xc, but i dont think he is the coach at jsu...i should probally leave these questions for the kid who runs for them

Yeah we have both track and cross country. Yeah your right Scar. Rop isnt coaching here anymore i think a few years ago he might have be an assistant but last time he was here he was just a teacher, i think. He is only at Millsaps right now.

to dispel the rumors (http://www.millsaps.edu/athletic/cross_country-m/davidrop.shtml)
also...how did millsaps favor this year? I saw that their fastest guy in 2004 ran 31:33 for 8k.

(Nobody knew it was a 5k we were told it was suppose to be an 8k so there times arent that accurate this was also one of there first races)

exactly how much different is an 8k from a 5k?

(this shows rop finished 35th not bad this makes him all-american right?)
I think At that LSU meet(where he ran 23:39) is where he beat David Kimani, the 99 national champ. Someone told me that was the only race Kimani lost all year. He had a chance to win nationals but he said he didnt adapt to well to the weather at nationals. Must have been cold kenyans usually hate the cold.

Almost two miles but i guess you mean in time. This year the best I could run a 5k was about 16:45 and I ran a 28:29. Last year though i ran 16:36(so maybe in 16:15ish shape) in the middle of an 8k at the 5mile mark to PR in the 5K and finish in 26:56. I dont know if that helps but it really just depends on the runner some people dont even get phased from a 5k to an 8k and can run about the same pace but I would guess if someone was in prime shape. The 8k would be about 10seconds per mile slower than your 5k. I hope Simpkins dont mind me to use him for an example. You ran a 5k in 15:46, thats i think about a 5:05 pace so lets say you 8k pace is 5:15 that would put you running 5miles in 26:15. Do you think that sounds right?

Sure it isn't three MORE harder??
bobthemileagebuilder

Man my long explanation was pointless then.
On your philosophy of 8-5=3. Thus making it 3 harder. Do realize this is in the metric system. This is america we like to do things different then the rest of the world so it should read 5-3.1=1.9. In conclusion its 1.9 harder.
depends on what kind of runner you are, i am more of a pure distance guy, so after i passed the 3 mile mark i just said to myself "crap i have almost another 2 miles left" so it wasnt that much harder for me, although you will have those races where you are used to the 5k and you are dead right there and dont want to go on, but it really proves who is in shape alot more than a 5k does...i wasnt this season
