We have only seen two 70' throwers out of High School in the last 8 years!!! There are a lot of good prospects coming up... Got a good handful of guys coming back for their senior year who were over 60' last year... Even got a good couple of guys coming back as Juniors who were over 60' last year... There is even Wesley Wright out of Georgia coming back who almost hit 58' last year as a Freshmen!!

I know that last year out of the Youth Age divsion for USATF, we have some pretty good prospects that will be Freshmen this year, but I don't know if any of them will throw far enough to get ranked this year... But there is a young man out of Oregon, Andrew Gay, who was a VERY large 14 year old this last summer and even though he got the Silver at the Junior Olympics, I think it's only a matter of time before he blasts a throw this upcoming season to get ranked. I would like to see how much he's worked in the Off-Season. We also have the Young man who won BOTH the USATF Youth Outdoor Nationals and the USATF Junior Olympic Championships... He is very undersized compared to his competition, but his technique is SO SOLID!!! He has throws out of Spin and has incredible speed and explosivness!! He is just fun to watch... We'll just have to see if he can overcome the amount of size he will be giving up to the High School Young Men now...

So, you all let me know what you think...

yeah coach I was at the JO'S in Indy this summer and I saw Andrew Gay throw....He looks like he could really get stronger and chunk it out there...I always notice in the youth division there's guys that throw the 1k discus and 4k shot far but when they move up to the big implements, you never hear from them again...I think Andrew Gay will do well with the 1.6 and 12lb.

I used to feel good about my 52'8 as a sophomore but not now =(

Yeah Andrew Gay is a huge kid... If you saw him, you should have seen him when he walked up to his parents at the podium...lol... I'm gonna guess that his dad's got to be like 6'7" and his mom is about 6'2"!!!!

Talk about potential!!! I think Andrew had to be about 210lbs!!! He dwarfed my son...by the way...my son, Kenneth Rowland, is the little guy that won the J.O.'s...lol

He's not doing too bad now... He's a pretty consistent 47'-48' thrower right now and about 130' with the disc, he is using the H.S. implements... But he's only gotten up to about 152lbs right now and about 5'9 1/2"...

Hopefully he will get another growth spurt here...

Thanks for keeping the thread going!!!

yeah i know another guy named Benjamen Stephen....I think he'll be a junior this year and he has thrown a little over 60. He's a big guy and he's really really strong...just thought I'd put that out there.

I do remember him... He was a spinner if I remember right... He was truly impressive...his discus isn't too shabby either...

This will be a year to keep an eye out on everyone... Hopefully you will hit 200' this year... I would love to see a 240' throw by the time my son graduates...

That of course is on top of another 70' throw in the shot...
