bdaniels, how are you doing. Daniel Everhart here. Gotta love this all night meet. The 3200m is at 4:30, 1600m at 6:50 and the 800m at 9:05. I think that I should have plenty of break between the 3200 and the 800.

Yeah, I consider myself a night owl, so I'll be enjoying the meet under the lights, with you all. Not that I'll actually get to enjoy many of the races, but I'm sure the meet will be quite thrilling. Coach Vaughn sure does know how to pick the right meets for you all to compete in...

Well I am glad to have a lot of good competition in the 3200m. I am thinking sub 10:00. It would be a big confidence builder. And Vaughn said "Either put up, or shut up, no watches, no excuses, just compete!" That's what I hope to do. He also said he hopes I don't make it into the fast heat of the 800m. I don't know how I would do if I went out in 55. By the way, I have only run a 56 4x400 split. Do they plan on having 2 heats? I am like the 25th seed. It would be fun to get wooped by the sub 2:00 guys.

Yeah, but if you run in the fast heat You can always just latch onto the back & hang on. Although I'm sure there will be a few low 2 guys in the 2nd heat if they have one.

ive always thought this guy was a junior, is this a misprint or is he really just a sophomore?

Junior I'm 99.9 percent sure

He was a junior. I remember thinking he was inexperincaed cause he took off like a idiot at state track last year trying to beat Rome. Scott just ran him down, pretty sweet race.

He ran the same way at KU trying to beat Collett.

He is a junior. I don't know why he is running so bad this year. He won SMN last year. Or at least I am pretty sure he did. I can usually stick to someone really well in the 800m because I don't have to think about it for that long.

I have a lot of trouble with trying to relax in the 800.

Relaxing is for when your at home on the couch, the 800m is all about guts.

i think i know what jordan means by this though, same thing in the 1600 if i go out .5 seconds to fast im toast my upper body tightens up and i might as well walk off the track

Yes exactly Ande. Its hard to explain. But like at KU I couldn't find my stride. My upper body tightened up and then my legs followed and I fell back.

Iiight.. I'll see you guys tomorrow.

Did you ever find out what your working TJ?

Dan.... I'll look for the Turner tent. If I can't find you.... I'll try to do something really distracting... like tackle a pole vaulter while he's on the approach.... & then you'll know where I'm at.

We were on the backstretch last year. We will probably be in the same area. You'll probably know where we are as soon as the 3200 is over, if you haven't already found us.

KS Roadrunna

I plan on finding you before the 3200. Otherwise I'll have wasted most of my trip.

Do you have a pep talk for me? It should be good weather, so I can take that excuse away. And I felt good today at practice also. I am just going to tag on to someone and make them do the work for me.

KS Roadrunna
05-05-2005, 06:43 PM
Well, don't be afraid to push the pace if you have to. There might very well be two packs in that race.

I don't plan on giving any talks... just doing my usual screaming.... although... i don't think I can run back & forth on the infield like I like to do. So I'll have to figure something out... I just want to get there early.

thsrunner06

If I think that I am running too slow then I will definately push the pace. And then I will find someone else to run with. I hate having to run by myself. I shouldn't have to tomorrow. I've got to take my vent plusses and milers. I hate trying to run the 800 in the vents.

KS Roadrunna
05-05-2005, 06:50 PM
you have more than one pair of spikes?

I always just wore the same pair for everything

thsrunner06
05-05-2005, 06:52 PM
Well I don't use the milers for xc. That's where the vents come in. I also have the camo kenns. I don't where them except in terrible weather or on our course. I have some long spikes in them. I used them at footlocker on the course of muck.

No im not working actually. Unless you want to stop by the concession stand and see me from 7-9 cause i will be working there. Coach didnt give me a job cause i had too much other stuff going on. The bari sax in the baby jazz couldnt be at the pizza jazz thing that night so im filling in and thats at 6. And my jazz band plays at 9:30, lol. So i will miss a lot of the north relays but o well thats how life goes.

That sounds a lot like my distance coach. You can hear him anywhere on that track.

Well, the officials aren't going to be up until tomorrow, probably. Here is what I know:
Casey Johnson won the 1600m in 4:18 and the 800m run in 1:54. Danny Schneider ran a 1:55.xx for 2nd. Sachse of Ottawa pulled out a 1:55.xx for third. Collett ran a 1:57 for like 5th. SMNW won the 4X800m in like 7:59 w/o Weems. Weems didn't run anything. Which made the 3200m pretty slow. 10:06 won, Skyler Delmont. I(Daniel Everhart) was 2nd at 10:09. Officials will be posted tomorrow.

That's an awesome double by Johnson, impressive. 4:18 and 1:54? If that's true then that's outstanding. I'm also glad to see Sachse run a good time because it seems like he's been struggling a bit thus far. Good job by Schneider too, if the weather is decent at the state meet there could be some state records contested in 3 different classes because I think 6A is like 1:52.34 (which Collett can do if he wants to, esp. if Schneider pushes him), 5A is 1:53.50 which isn't out of reach for Sachse but hopefully he has somebody pushing him for a while, and I think 4A is 1:53.56 (which Johnson could do without a doubt even if nobody pushes him). Hopefully the 1600 doesn't tire out Collett, Schneider, and Johnson too much because I want to see some fast 800's at state. Oh and SMNW's 7:59 deserves props as well (once again I'm assuming the times posted by thsrunner06 are correct or fairly close). That's a good 4x8 time and I'm sure it will be alot faster at state in a few weeks.

Johnson ran up front in both races the entire time. Morton challenged him a little the 2nd & 3rd laps... & then Johnson responded by saying "not this time" & was gone. Collett was never in it & finished around 4:30.

In the 800, Johnson again run strong up front the whole way. Collett actually challenged him for the 3rd 200 until Johnson dropped the hammer & Collett got ate up by the wolves. I thought he was closer to 2 flat, but maybe he was faster.

I'd like to see Schneider & Johnson in a 1600 or mile together, but it isn't happening. With competition Johnson can definitely run faster, because no one has even seemed to challenge him in the last 200 of any of his races.

Collett hasn't impressed me much at all this year. He just doesn't seem to have it & definitely doesn't have it in the 1600. He's either burnt out or didn't put hardly any miles in over the winter. Maybe it's other factors, but If you've ran a 1:52 the year prior & then you pick up x-c & run all winter... why can't you run a low 4:20 at least? I hope the best for the kid, but I don't see him challenging any state meet records.
