my coach, suggested that in my next dual meet i go for the mile record which happens to be.....dont laugh....4:30......There are some guys that could bring me to the record but, i have rival ever since middle school that i want to race in the 800. Should i go for the record or just go in the 800 and go after my evil nemisis

They aren't going to say over the stadium "so and so just beat his jr. high nemisis" but they will say "with a new stadium record ________" I would rather set the stadium record, weather pending of course.

did you mean stadium record or school record? I was thinking you meant a school record which would obviously not be announced either.

... run both events?

That's what we do on my team. 4x800, 1600, 800. Or 4x800, 1600, 3200.

Hmmmm ... no wonder 3/4 of our guys are injured.

But if I were you, I'd do both.

since u two have been rivals for a while...im assuming u 2 live near each other...which means u'll race him a lot more times right? so go for the mile record

So how do you run a slower pace for an 800 than you did for a mile. I have felt like crap before in my day and ran 2:01 in a 4 by 8 leg, a 4:33 mile with a 62 second opener, and still came back with a 2:04. What happenned?
