The 2006 Indoor Track season is about to start. So with that said, I'm curious to know different people's goals in different events for the season and what meets you are running at this indoor season.

My goals this year are sub-12 2-mile, 5:35 mile, and 2:25 800. We're running at Maine South, Glenbrook North, Downers Grove (relay), Glenbard North, Wacuanda, Buffalo Grove, and Bloom Trail. We got another meet added today, but I don't remember where.

The transition from HS to college is really different. You have done little speed work , probaly none. You start to race earlier indoor than you did in high school. Next thing you know you blow out a 4:39 and Billy Wisser is lapping your ass.

question: how much slower generally is the indoor track than the outdoor track, what do u think a 2:02 800 outdoors would be indoors?

my expectations for indoor season is just to run well enough on a 4 by 800 to go to the top times meet. It will be my first one. Otherwise i don't have goals for indoor.

your track just makes me angry. i think we had freshman conference there in 03

2:05-6 if it's 200m track with spikes.

I didn't run there last year, b/c I played bball, and didn't have enough practices to compete. I went to the meet though. Our track isn't much better. We have long straightaways and short curves. Our curves (they're really just corners w/ a rounded edge) are so tight that we can't hold meets at our school. Last year the meet didn't have much competition for distance- do you know how good your girl's team is this year?

the sad thing is i did run a 4:39 last week, and prolly would have lost to wisser. I redeemed myself nicely with a 9:03 3k tonight though.

Is the Downers Grove relay meet the one held at Lewis University? If so, my team runs there too... I like that meet a lot! Also, I don't want this to sound offensive at all because it isn't supposed to be, but are you better at track than at cross country, or have you just been running/improved a lot? Either way, those are some great goals; good luck with your season!

Yep 2 crappy indoor tracks. We can't hold meets on them, but they're not bad for practicing. Our outdoor track is fairly nice though.

Yeah, that's the meet at Lewis. We should have a good 4x8 this year, so I'm excited for it. However, our 2nd fastest girl, might not be able to run at that meet (she's been hurt)
As for my goals, I'm MUCH better at track than at xc, and I was sick this year at the end of the xc season, so I didn't really peak. This is the first year I've focused on running (I played bball and soccer), so this is the first season I've put in a good base. I can tell I've made a huge difference. I'm running the times in practice right now with ease, that I struggled to run at the end of the track season last year. Also, those are my goals for the entire season, not just indoor.

i have no idea how good they r this year, but their xc team got last in conference so there wont b much distance competition.

They don't have it listed on their schedule right now, but last year they didn't have it listed at the beginning of the season either.

Who, Downers Grove? I was just asking jenuine if that was the same meet they were going to, I'm not worried about the meet actually being held. I'm almost 100% sure that it is. Otherwise, I'm sure my coach would have been informed of it, but we were just talking about the meet the other day.

i feel bad for you robbie, i just got to run 10 laps and have it be a 3000, that was really nice. Gotta love the oversize tracks, especially when i run almost my pr pace (903 3k is about a 941, pr is 939). Which since that was coming off a 439  mile that i ran last week, is looking almost respectable.

i dunno what my indoor goals are...
outdoor im looking for a 9:55 two mile and like a 4:30 mile
so maybe like 10:10-15 at indoor conference, and a 4:40ish really have no idea though. i dont care what my indoor times are if i hit my times outdoors

QFE!! Last year, a teammate was cheering for me in the 2 mile, and she yelled "only 18 laps to go!" I almost ran off the track and tackled here.

East St. Louis will win the 4x4 this year. They ran a 3:17 with 2 juniors and 2 sophmores! Another team to look out for is Evanston since they are returning 3 guys from their qualifying team.

Granted they still will be good no matter what... but they did graduate Muldoon, who was fast as balls and their hammer

Actually i was right. I wasn't just talking about state, but thanks. The entire year Muldoon was their 4th man because he was also arguably one of the top 5 400 runners in the state. The only reason Gabe Harris ran at state was, like you said, because Muldoon got injured. Muldoon was a key part of their team and one of the best 400 runners the past two years. Like i said originally, their team will still be great, but its never helpful to graduate an all-state 48 second 400 runner...
