good. That standard was too low, i still say there needs to be some secondary standard, like 9:45-9:50, for the people that auto qualify. Last year 11 made it over 950 and 6 were over 10, that is a joke.

theyll still give it to the people who run 937 probably. Wow just remembering the palatine sectional last year, atleast 6 people/relay teams should not have been to state, of course our team was one of them...so i really shouldnt complain

I think thats completly ridiculous that they let teams in who didn't make the standard. thats why the standard is there. if your .1 off, tough luck

And the guys that run over 10 minutes still get to go? If a guy's even a second off the cut, when you look at the guys running 20, 30 seconds off, he should be allowed to race in the slow heat.

I am all for a second standard for those who auto-qualify. There were a couple people i beat during the year that made it with 10 flats and i thought that was BS as well. My point is, that if your going to have a standard then follow it. Whats the point of lowering the standard 2 second like they did for the 2 mile this year if they are still going to let 9:37s in?

2 people from each sectional or an unlimited amount if they hit the state cut. usually in the chicago/st louis area's theres like a bunch of sprinters and jumpers who hit hte standards but like some distance guys get in with 1030's just because of placing top 2. then in the suburbs theres usually just a couple sprinters and jumps under the state cut or who just make it by placing top 2, and a ton of distance. so someone might run 936 and wont make state if they dont place top 2 in their sectional, while someone could win their sectional with a 1030 and still make it. i dunno if that made sense. like our sectional last year had 11 2milers under the state cut, and if someone just barely missed it and ran a second above the time, they wouldnt make state while someone in a bad distance sectional would run a 1030 and qualify.

no, when it gets down to missingit by .1 seconds, that's just all about whenthe person hits the stop on the watch. .1 earlier when he hits it and your in. Just let them slide especually if it's a longer distance run.

Because at the Palatine sectional they will no longer be letting the 9:40s in. :p

im sick of certain sectionals (thornridge) chopping like half a second or more off of sprint times to let more kids down state...its ridiculous...
100m
1 John Beals Sr. Dolton (Thornridge) 10.10
2 Brandon Collins Jr. Park Forest (Rich East) 10.30
3 Aaron Lowe Jr. Chicago Heights (Bloom Twp.) 10.30
4 Christopher Green Jr. Chicago (Morgan Park) 10.30
5 Roderick Jenkins Sr. Olympia Fields (Rich Central) 10.50
6 Gorden Barnes Jr. Harvey (Thornton) 10.60
110mHH
1 Jason Bell Sr. Park Forest (Rich East) 13.70
2 Jamar Jackson Sr. Chicago Heights (Bloom Twp.) 13.80
3 Munir Bridges Jr. Blue Island (Eisenhower) 14.10
4 John Stephens Sr. Dolton (Thornridge) 14.20
5 Calvin Williams Jr. Harvey (Thornton) 14.40
6 Tafari Mahou So. Chicago (Morgan Park) 14.50
7 Kevin Bailey Sr. Flossmoor (Homewood-Flossmoor) 14.50
I somehow doubt Beals ran a 10.1 and Bell a 13.7.... and you can't call it timing error because none of the other guys who qualified for state really did much once they actually had FAT...collins went 11.04 at state...about .8 difference in time usually doesnt happen within a week or so. and I can't believe Bridges if having run a 14.1 at sectinals would run a 15.2 at state and not qualify... i dont think you can argue that those times are a alittle curved...
...how about instead of making peoples times better, they should try to make the runners better... there shouldnt be 7 state qualifiers in one sectional race... thats ridiculous.
