In years past, the annual CIAC tournament packet has said something like: if a school has thier boys and girls teams in different classes (ex boys in S, girls in M), the team in the lower class can move up into the same class as the other team so they have the meet on the same day (ex S boys move up to M).

Is this rule still on the books? has any of your teams every used it? I'm Curious because this year M is loaded (griswold, AI prince, ellington, sheehan, etc) while MM is pretty weak in my opinion - and our girls are MM.

M seems to be strong all around its got the sprints covered with prince and bloomfield...same with the jumps, i dont really know about the throws.....distance is mainly covered by griswold with a couple teams putting in some good atheletes, just maybe not enough to make a huge difference in the team scoring.

Not to say MM is weak though cause i believe ledyard is always MM and they seem to always have a strong team, and i think a couple of those FCIAC teams are in double M like Darien

Both divisions seem to be pretty strong

MM doesnt have standout teams really, but overall comp will be legit, mid distance and distance events will be covered by names such as Macklem, rezendes, crandall, swirsky, fuentes, wright, wyper, doying, jarboe, ibozar, graham, and many more im sure, thats just what i could pull off the top of my head, last year sprints seemed fairly strong with individuals from teams, theres no bloomfield to clean up, but there are alot of well rounded teams with strong kids in each event, (lyman hall, weaver, hillhouse, darien) so though theres no real standout, there sure is alot of comp, id recomend staying im M if i was you

Two questions.

Well, one comment and one question, really, but I'll start with the comment.

Ibozrar, as well as the entire Boys Lyman Hall team, is in Class L this year, so you won't be seeing Zak around at the MM meet. We have exactly (yes, exactly, its 422 I believe) the minimum number of boys to be in Class L this year, which means instead of Hillhouse and Ledyard, we're up against East Lyme and Staples.

Secondly, Titan2005, are you from Sheehan? If so, I'm looking foward to the meet tomorrow. It's going to be very intense; maybe as intense as the 2003 meet when it came down to the 4x4.

scroll down for the class listings for 2005.

basically it breaks down like this:

class M: bloomfield, ellington, griswold, prince tech, rocky hill, tolland, sheehan
vs class MM: darien, east haven, ledyard, hillhouse, woodstock acd.

I think its clear that MM isn't loaded with all-around teams though there are many good athletes on those teams, whereas the teams in M are just going to eat up scoring oppurtinities

Hmm... how about answering my question? No? Is anonymity that sacred on these forums?

Holy crap... if our girls were in class M last year, we would have probably cleaned up in some of the events.

Although, quite honestly, the CT competition this year is just damn good. Its hard to do well in any class.
