View Full Version : Brentwood High girls (4x8) 9:27
The Brentwood High (AAA) girls posted a 9:27 in the 4x8 at the Charlie Harper Relays. I bet Laruen Stewart was on that relay getting ready for the pentathlon. Stewart will probably do three field events in the Sectional. What running event will be her fourth? She will have a very tough challenge from the Knoxville West girl if Stewart chooses a hurdle event for State. Perhaps running a leg of the 4x8 will increase her chances of giving the Bruin team another ten points. However, can they win the 4x8 without her at State. After saying all this, somebody will post that she did not even run on the 4x8 at Harper Relays.

Jackie Coward, the freshman from Knoxville West has made it her goal all season to come in as a freshman and to win both hurdles for 4 straight years. She knows it almost sounds impossible in the long run, but she has worked extremely hard all season long. She looks forward to running against Marissa Harris of Memphis Central, the 3 time defending 100 Hurdles champion and Lauren Stewart, Stanford signee and greatest female track athlete in Tennessee history. When Jackie ran 43.95 at Mobile on April 2nd, she stuttered on the 1st hurdle and overstrided up to the last hurdle. She is in a lot better shape now and the state record could be possible. I have video of the 300 hurdles race and I will try to get it up on the www.westrun.com site in the next week.

Allen Etheridge, the over-the-hill coach at ORHS has made it his goal all season to take on all comers on 10/8 at Ironman. Although he will stutter through the swim, a course record is certainly possible on the bike, and he is in much better shape on the run, now that he has lost 25 lbs. Etheridge anticipates destroying all those 27-year-old whippersnappers who think old guys in Speedos are just gross. He says, "Bring 'em on." He will provide video as soon as his wife and friends stop laughing.

OR that picture is disturbing at best....please no video!
Lauren Stewart ran under 43.1 (F.A.T.) for 300H at Great Eight last year. However, did not show the same conditioning at State. She is capable of a sub 43, but will her time and training for the field events hinder her chances (if she runs 300H at State).

No, it was Brentwood Academy that ran the 9:27. BHS must have run faster than that.

For the hurdles you better not forget Megan Lyons of Greeneville especially in 100H. She went 14.57 Friday and then added a 44.? in 300H. She really impressed me in 100H.

Wow, what got into BA? Were they pushed, or did they just lay one down? Was Mankin on the relay?
Sad thing is...Brentwood High can run that too, I fear. Scary still, I think BHS can run 9:30 with just their FRESHMEN. I could get a 10:00 out of my girls at section next week, but I might as well break it up and let some kids juice the mile because we've got no real shot at making it to Memphis. Ya'll think a 10 flat would be on the "auto qualifier" list for the 4x8?
By the way, I've already talked to the network, and Allen's footage is going to be forwarded directly to ESPN Classic for "instant classics". I'll let you decide what the classic is.

they were gunning for the school record, and broke it by about 9 seconds.

Brentwood High won the 4x800. Brentwood Academy came in 2nd. Brentwood Academy broke their school record with their anchor trying to chase down the BHS anchor leg. Lauren Stewart did not run the 4x800.

Brentwood High ran 9:27.30h with 3 freshman and a sophomore. Brentwood Academy boys ran 7:54.90h for the 4x800. Also new state discus leader in Michael Oher from Briarcrest, 166-09.
What was BA's second place time if Brentwood High won in 9:27? So Stewart did not run on the relay. How is Skinner doing ? Will she run in the Sectional?
