sophomore

With Sheridan, Gruenewald, and Murdock, these 4 make quite a sophomore class. Along with Christian Thompson, Corey Robinson, and freshman Charles White, NY has a lot to look forward to.

I hope Sheridan and Murdock get there health concerns worked out.

Just shortly before his open 800 at Sctdy Invy, he also split a 1:53.0 on the 4x800.

Damnation!! He might be best soph ..whoops about equal to Craig Forys, who has split 4:13.2 essentially twice to go along wit his frosh 9:20 3200 and 12:36 vanny time

not that it matters TOO much, but the tullyrunners site said his 4:15.3 was a 1600M, not mile. which was it?
king, i'm suprised you didn't know about rhodes-devey....he had a pretty darn good cross season and frosh year last year, and you seem to know a lot about NY runners.....i guess he has just flown under the radar.

If I had to pick the sophomore and freshman distance guys, I'd say in these guys. Just my opinion. Sheridan and Murdock have health problems, so they probably won't acheive any more this Spring.

Sheridan, NY
Murdock, NY
Michael Cybulski,
Logan Gonzalez,
Brian Rhodes-Devey NY
Craig Forys,
Sintayehu Taye,
Kevin Havel,
Cory Primm,
Matt Frerker,
Tommy Gruenewald NY

Concerning Brian Rhodes-Devey race at the Colonie Relays - Originally I was told it was 1 Mile race (that's why the TullyRunners database lists 1 Mile), but I just got the results from the Schenectady Daily Gazette newspaper which reports 1600 Meters ... so I'm not certain what the distance was.

Edit ... Here are the results as reported in the Daily Gazette:

1,600 - Rhodes-Devey (Guild), 4:15.3; Shaffer (BC), 4:23.9; McManamon (Shen), 4:30.8

I've also heard eye witness account that Brian has bladder problems and must resort to relieving himself in the middle of the football field...

It's all true ladies and gentlemen. He can clap with one hand, and he does relieve himself in the middle of football fields 5 minutes before his race. The man can do it all.

BRD can also run a 4:13.... and break the NYS Soph Record. He won by 6 seconds over FM's Owen Kimple. Full results on Tullyrunners.

The NYS Soph mark is 4:11.83m for Trautman (=4:13.33y)

Brendan Fennell is next with a 4:13.60y soph mark

Just read this..ohh my....I guess he gets the soph mile mark..

1600 mark by JT is superior, but have to run the full distance. probabaly will make no difference anyway as he just ran this and won by 6m with full month to go!! wow!!

Had to be a shade slower than that at 1600m, given that he ran 4:13.50y (would probably not have been 2.0 sec for the 9.3 meters). My guess is that Trautman will retain his 1600m Soph record, while BRD is the new Class Mile record holder.

That 1:53.81 is shocking, IMO. The 9:16.92 is another GREAT mark. BRD is having a tremendous yr, going all the way back to 9th at Fed XC. He is clearly the top Soph 800/miler around. The NYS Fed is loaded, as usual.

jwager

No, he was definately 4:11.5 at 1600. He just happened to run the last 9m in 1.99 seconds, which in fact now that I hear it, seems like a pretty legit number.

Trautman still holds the 1600 record though because it wasn't an official mark at 1600, just a few coaches with watches.

do you think brd will double 800 /1600 at states? Maybe he can tell us.

Achilles
05-16-2005, 11:29 PM
thats a ridiculous double considering 800 is both days. if it was 8 on first day and then mile its not so terrible. but he will have 3 races in 2 days and they will be very high intensity races. idk him or anything, but i would say just mile. him and ben white dualing it out and if danny mac runs it he will be in there to say the least. his kick is the best and has great speed.

hopefully jameison does as well and german from southhampton, throw in kimple obviously also. NYS is huge in distance this year, just unfortunate that some of the studs are hurt so bad

You were there, so I am sure you are correct. Given this, BRD was clearly tying up a little bit as he neared the line. 2.0 seconds from 1600 to mile is fairly slow (1.5 sec would be normal for a guy passing by in 4:11.5)

In any event, GREAT job by Mr. DV! He deserves enormous credit for what he's accomplished in his Soph yr.
