congrats to brookline on their victory. you stepped up when it counted, and look what you got. wish i could say the same.
i said at the beginning of the season i wanted to run 2:28. i still believe i could have run 2:28 - yet i didnt. i didnt advertise it earlier (and im not sure i want to now, cause i dont believe in any type of excuses - however im sure a number of people want to know why the 1k didnt end with any sub 230 performances), but ive been injured for the past 2 weeks. the stress of a long run took its toll on the joint between my first metatarsal of my right foot and its connecting joint. for a week, a stress fracture was feared - the week before class. thanks to my teammate bryan longo (who ran on my shoulder the entire race, only to die on the kick), i was able to finish with a first place medal. i think i ran 20 miles over this past week - significantly lower than the training i had been putting myself through until early february. the effects clearly showed today, as i could not compete for first place. sounds exactly like an excuse to me, and for that im sorry, just as i am for not backing up my claims with documented performances.
i would like to congratulate moriarty for his win today - big kick side by side with brousseau if i remember correctly. way to pull out your best performace at the biggest meet.
the race itself i thought was alot of fun - back and forth battling. its races like these that i race for. while the final outcome was less than i hoped for, the race was more than i could have hoped for in terms of an actual race. im gonna go so far as to say it was my favorite race of the season. for this reason, im quite content with the meet this afternoon.
however, im maybe a bit disappointed with the official-ing at the meet today. but before i go making more claims that i cant back up, does anyone have a video of the seeded boys 4x2?
was anyone near the zone during the first handoff? can anyone account for the veracity of the disqualification? i personally did not think our runners handed off outside of the zone, and no flag was waved afterwards - yet we were disqualified anyways.
again, congratulations to those runners who ran in the meet today, especially those who ran and placed higher than their seeds.
lexington plans on running a DMR, 4x8, and 4x2 at NSIC. will anyone be competing with/against us? i look forward to one final HS indoor meet (we will not be running at NEs)
