Idaho also rocks because it is one of the only states that has a medley relay all the time ( 100 X 100 X 200 X 400 )!
Im in the midwest and there is not a medley consistantly at every meet!

Idaho State Meet

Boys 1600 Meter Run 5A
1 Mike Armon 10 Coeur d'Alen 4:25.64 10
2 Sam Hardy 12 Eagle 4:27.33 8
3 Partick Bradbury 12 Timberline 4:28.04 6
4 AJ Packard 12 Capital 4:28.16 5
5 Jon Williams 12 Timberline 4:28.29 4
* I wouldve gotten 6th at the state meet in Idaho - 4:29.40...and thats because when i ran that i got 9TH in my Regional meet. Also I rarely did any speed work because my coach basically designated me for the 3200m and 3200m only. In fact I only raced the 1600m four times throughout the season.

Boys 3200 Meter Run 5A
1 Mike Armon 10 Coeur d'Alen 9:26.69 10
2 Sawyer Bosch 10 Borah 9:36.80 8
3 Sean Huey 10 Borah 9:44.86 6
* I wouldve gotten 3rd at the state meet in Idaho - 9:41.33...and thats because I ran that time AFTER running prelims for the 1600m and 3200m the day before. And I got 3rd in that particular race when i ran 9:41.33, which was not even a regional meet what so ever. It was simply a big meet that included runners just from my area alone.

My second point, I come from the "slow region" in my state so my times dont even impress myself. In fact I generally did not put in a vast amount of effort into my season or training, because I knew I was not going to make it to state, why try when the top returner from last year ran sub-9:00. Plus I wasnt even near the fastest in my region and as i stated i was in the "slow region". Now had I lived in Idaho, I mightve more likely ran faster since a 9:41 couldve gotten me 3rd at the state meet and 4:29 wouldve gotten me 6th.

In conclusion...Idaho blows (still).

Hey BEans! Where are you from?

runbob

Beans,

To say that you would have placed in the Idaho State meet because you ran a certain time in your regional in another state just shows how misinformed you are. First Idaho has just over 1 million population only Wyoming and Alaska have fewer people. Fewer people = fewer opportunities to run fast. Idaho has less than 130 high schools, and only 16 schools in the largest class 5A. Again fewer chances to run fast. Over half of the state is at 5000+ altitude which if you made the effort to inform yourself slows times at the 1600 to 3200 distances. Everytime Idaho athletes venture out to other areas to compete they usually do better than many expect.

Karleigh Gempler ran 10:49 for 3200 in New York this winter.
Dana Morgan won the Simplot Games 1600 last year and placed 2nd at the Stanford Invite just last week running 4:59.15 for One Mile (4:57 for 1600!)

Jed Barta and Gene Betancourt both ran under 4:10 at Golden West and Golden South less than 5 years ago.

So before you say anywhere blows you better swallow the truth!

Run Bob!
I couldn't have said it better. Altitude is everything. Most of these state times could be faster if the runners were allowed to run at a lower altitude. Its nice to see someone that is actually intelligent comment on the topic! Mr Beans....you really can't say that you would have run better....like I said before....where are you from? where do you train? what altitude?

p.s. during highschool (in Idaho) I ran cross country as well as track. I placed 23rd at the state meet and all but one of the girls that beat me ended up running Division 1 track/cross country in some way or another. I competed as a hurdler D 1 and would regularly run into them. Idaho produced and continues to produce quality runners. end of story.

I can smell the jealousy!

All your so called "reasoning" is basically BS, desperation in other words. There was a guy from my area tha ran 9:20's solo, he was from a town with a population less than 30,000, ran in small meets [usually won by about 45-60seconds] and he didnt even make it to state. so the less population and chances to run fast explanation is, as I stated BS.

By the way **** altitude, theres nothing spectacular about it. Ive trained sea-level and at altitude and honestly my performances never showed significant change. Try running in 90-100+ degree weather along with extreme humidity levels, now that **** will fckin kill ya. And in my personal experiance it took a harder toll on me than altitude. Anytime the weather was below 75 degrees I would fly. in most races i ran in , the conditions were just like i described and i still managed to run 16:20's and the few times it was below 75 degrees I ran well under 15:40.

Sooo, Idaho (still) blows..again.

But it blows not because of its runners..because people from Idaho dont know how to take a goddamn joke. My original post was meant to be humorous, but apparently you all have sand in your vag.

By the way my 9:41 was NOT in a regional meet.

i think everyone's gonna be surprised by how much faster idaho is over last year. in the girls distances we already have a sub 5 miler (Dana Morgan) and a sub 11 2miler (Karleigh Gempler) and there will be more running these times by state. also vaulter annelise bertleson is nationally ranked. With the guys times are going to be faster too with th 3200 under 9:20 the mile under 4:16 and the 800m under 1:53.

also last xc season taught us that idaho teams could get nationally ranked (Both Boise High's boys and girls teams were) they competed strongly against out of state competition and the girls went to NTN. there are a lot of other states bigger than idaho that can't boast this level of success.

so what i'm trying to say is that while idaho isn't the best it's not bad and will get better

Haha beans ur a **** tard. Altitude obviously does help or professional athletes wouldnt travel just to train at a higher elevation ( Lance Armstrong ) . and ur dumb. I also ran in 110 degree weather when i lived in Texas and its not as bad as u make it sound. pussy:p . Everytime ive gone back to sea level or lower elevation than Idaho ive ran my fastest times ( Jim Danner and Stanford ) and humidity is actually good for your lungs, dry air hurts like a bitch. So im pretty sure u have a sandy vagina.

LOL I'VE BEEN LAUGHING THE LAST TEN MINUTES READING ALL THIS... IT'S ALL SO FUNNY! anyways... altitude definately affects you...when i moved back to idaho....i couldnt run more than 4 miles a day for about a week...it was pathetic. altitude means A TON. Teams in Provo get to subtract SIX SECONDS off of there mile time to convert it to sea level...six seconds. (wow)

lol, i can't let this go. altitude DEFINATELY makes a huge impact!! the boise girl just went down to sea level and broke 5! sea level or not, that's pretty dang impressive. she MIGHT do taht in idaho by the end of the season..that just shows how much altitude DOES affect you. and you could argue that she had more competition, but you'd still be wrong...it's the altitude

love ya, beans ;)
