Does anyone else have a problem with this? A lot of the time while I'm making my approach I start thinking about all the different things I need to do. By doing this, I actually throw my concentration off the jump and end up either A) fouling or B) having a mediocre jump at best. My high jump trainer likes to make fun of me for it, and he tells me i'm too smart to jump. He always says he had just the right amount of smarts to jump, smart enough to know what to do, not smart enough to be overly analytical. Anyone else suffer from any similar problems?

ya i do it in high jump sometimes when i start thinking about when i need to curve and then i will start speeding up to get to the point i pick out to curve and then things just get messed up

I hate it, but it almost always comes out this way .. my best jump is always my first jump because after my first jump I just think way to much about the jump and so I usualy overemphasize my first two phases on triple and so I sacrifice the quality of the last phase. I'm workin on it...

Yeah, I'm trying to just zone out now during jumps with the exception of counting my steps. After you do jumps for long enough, things should come naturally anyway. I also had this over-thinking problem during Cross Country.
