I was wondering how much yall think you should be able to add to your standing throw after throwing using the spin technique.

I throw 55' standing and about 60' spinning.

Are you serious? I don't mean to call you out, but that sounds ridiculous....anybody punching it 55 should easily be one of the best throwers in the country..

True, I am just now really getting a hold on the spin technique. I have always been able to throw far in the front of the ring, i just have never been able to put everything together.

I stand and throw the disc 170 and only spin 185

Dude, I just can't buy that. I've NEVER in my life seen someone in high school stand a Disc 170 and a shot 55 consistently. You should be hitting 215 and at least 65.

What I've heard is with the spin in the shot, you should be able to add anywhere from 7 to 15 feet to your standing throw (depending on how good your spin is and how good an athlete you are). I'm still trying to get the spin down (I've been doing it for about 2 months) I can half turn 56 and spin 57.....with the glide for every 10 feet you standing throw you add 1 foot (depends on the thrower).

so..it would be worth my time to try and conquer the spin to a point in which i'm comfortable enough to use it in a meet?

what drills would you recommend to help with keeping a consistent spin going (i tend to not land correctly)
