Is the former MVP ever going to regain his form?
I don't think so, not without some "outside help".

There's no happy ending option is there?

Going to the minors and regaining his form wouldn't be a happy ending?

I voted "sits" because no one else will take him.

For a Gator, I like your thinking.

he'll probably be traded to some team and be used as a back-up. in which case, he won't want to play like that and retire.

why would some team take on his HUGE contract just for a benchwarmer?

I think he'll go to the minors and be traded after he doesn't regain form in june or july.

i agree with you running high. i might even say a little longer if he doesn't improve, maybe even the end of the season.
he is just lacking major confidence. after awhile in the minors, i think the pounding of homers off inadequate pitching will only help him.
if not, haha, i see him being traded. but who knows?

Who cares?
No one is even mad at Giambi anymore ('cept Steinbrenner who's out 80 mil...LOL).
They're too busy hatin' Bonds.
The GOAT. :D
Seriously...I hope Giambi makes it back.
I like him.

except he can't be sent to the minors without his consent because he is a veteran. I don't think he'll agree to go. for the yankees sake, i hope someone else takes him and his payroll, however unlikely. we've got tino back now ;)

Any chance to rip a Yankee, especially a BALCO Boy, I go with it.

He needs to go back to the minors, so he can get his timing back. I see he's had a few good hits, but they're too inconsistent. I'm sure the year off from his "parasite" affected his ability to detect pitches and the such. Too bad his ego is too big, hitting 70 mph BP balls isn't going to help him for now.

I like him. This is not meant to rehash an old thread but in all fairness, here's what he's done this season.
The Yanks beat the Rangers yesterday and Giambi homered twice.
Giambi, whose first homer to straightaway center just missed the glove of Gary Matthews Jr., left no doubt about the second one, his 13th of the season. The 408-foot shot to right-center in the sixth gave him his second multihomer game this season, and 25th of his career. Giambi reached base four times and raised his batting average to .284.
Giambi has a .437 on-base percentage, which would lead the AL if he had three more plate appearances.
He was 2-for-3 with a walk Wednesday, and is hitting .341 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs his last 45 games.

td, i'm glad you brought this back up. your earlier post said that no one dislikes giambi, despite the steroids, but because I live in new york, I know that's not the case. Here they don't even talk about bonds all that much, but complained about giambi almost non-stop since the steroids came out. They also heavily exaggerated how bad he was prior to breaking out of the slump. While his batting average was almost mendoza-like and his slugging percentage way below his career (about .538 career; he's over .500 for the season right now), his on base percentage continued to be among the best on the Yankees, and they said he was healthy. Moreover, he MAY be off the steroids and other cheating drugs, but look at him--he's still huge. He's still way bigger than when he came up, and still plenty strong to hit them out. So, he came out of the slump, is hitting .284/.437 on base/.505 slugging, which is outstanding and 8 homers in july, most in the majors. At 34, he figured to still be good but probably with only a couple more good years. Now that he's playing like an MVP again, he might be well above replacement level for the next four years. The steroids left him at that level. Oh, and true to form, the New York fans seem to love him again, now that he's performing and the yanks are nine games above .500.
