This has got to be the most moronic thing I have seen in a long time. Who is the dolt who thought this up? And why?

it's been going on for 2 or 3 years now.
here's why:
about 6-7 years ago, they moved the 4 x 8 trials from saturday morning to friday morning. mostly because the boys 4 x 4 schedule was getting so large, and due to the addition of the USA vs. the World relays in the afternoon, so saturday was getting tight on schedule.
it was working fine, but the DMR was suffering, as 4 x 8 teams were doubling back, or worse, if a team knew they were in the 4 x 8 finals, they might scratch from the DMR or just jog completely. then it got real bad when a few teams (who will remain nameless in public) decided they wouldn't scratch the DMR, but would use "B" runners instead - and one team had a freshman kid anchor the DMR in almost 4:50.
so out went the doubling.

Use Thursday or better yet kill some of the 4x4's. Or even better still, kill half the US vs the World garbage. How intensely boring! They shoud have a US vs World SMR, DMR and 4x4, and 4x1. Nothing else. and have the DMR on Friday. There is no way that this rule shoud be in place. Stupid. Maybe get rid of the mens mile too.
Or even better, don't let teams from South Jersey enter anything.

thursday is the girls/women's day. you've got to put a million heats of girls 4 x 1 and 4 x 4 somewhere.
your wish is coming true: there is a USA 4 x 4 and 4 x 1. This year there will be a women's SMR and a men's DMR - but on saturday (for TV). no announcement yet on who the US team will be though.

Come on. What have south jersey teams done that warrant entry into the prestigious Penn Relays?

North Jersey is not much better. In fact, limit NJ entries to Shore Conference teams and Penn woudl be markedly improved. Kearny can come. We'll compromise.
As for the Men's Mile, it has been historically a boring race. Yes, Waldrop was fun. That was 1973. I'd rather see that DMR.
Point here is that the no DMR/4x800 double is a travesty and pople should be held accountable by losing their jobs and supplying me with a clear path between outdoor vendors and my seat (as well as my own bathroon stall with a working door)

If this came to fruition, Kearny would have to look elsewhere...for better competition!!!!!!

It's been too nice on here. Finally some sass! As for JR he has been racing awesome. No doubt about that. Ride the wave where it takes me as Eddie Vedder said, JR should just let it come. no need to force at this point. The times are coming down just by lining up. what a great place to be when teh stars align and you can't wait to hear the gun go off.
