i voted yes cuz i think the 4a schools and 5a schools miss a lot of good competition come districts and state. runners in 5a will not have the opportunity to run against people like spencer, chio, kevin, ben larsen etc. If this is changed idaho would be more competitive nationally with higher quality races.

If you watched their state cross country championships you will understand why this post has been created. It was a joke.
There truly should only be 3 divisions in Idaho. 1A (1A&2A COMBINED), 2A(3a), and 3A(4A&5A COMBINED). Anything else is just ridiculous.

The question is not should they be combined but will they ever be combined!
YES they should be and never should have been separated but the probability of them ever being combined again is slim to none. There are far to many 4A schools and coaches that want it to stay the way it is. They just don't want to have to make the committment to compete at the higher level. It's sad that the 4A schools and coaches that make the committment to compete aren't able to compete against the 5A schools on a more regular basis and at state. Football and basketball concerns rule over all others and this is one of them. I personally would like to see the 4 and 5A's combined for cross and track since it would make for such better meets both in size and in competition, but I don't think it will happen in the foreseeable future.

I think Idaho is trying to frame their system like other states. Idaho is stronger now than it was even 5 years ago. I believe this is due to the current focus.
Such an amazing group of talented runners, and coaches.
When I ran there were a few good individuals now there are many teams and the depth is better. Give the current system a few more years and I believe you will see a big improvement. The key is keeping the current coache sin place.
If you were to lose Severa, Mills, Ascuena and a few others that would not be good for Idaho. Look what they ahve done with Bob Firman, with Boise, Borah, etc.
I vote to keep the system current.
5A should be more dominant that 4A, 4A more than 3A, etc. I do however believe that in cross country all divisions should be combined as Indiana does it.

Take a New York / New Jersey approach and have a "Meet of Champions" after the state meet? I think thats a great idea (not just for Idaho, but the idea in general)... or, as is already shaping up, Rocky Mountain Championships (not too unlike New England Championships?) where you get not just the best from each division, but also the best from surrounding states.
Thank you, Aron Taylor et al, for trying to advance competition with these championship type meets! I think it's great for the sport, I just hope everyone that should participate participates

Back in the day there was only 4 divisions. 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A (1A being the largest) We really liked it. 1A had alot of comp. I ran with Susan Werner, Christine Kohler...etc. I trained with Jed Barta on and off over the 4 years and the competition was competitive with 4 divisions. At state we watched Becky Ward compete and she was a force. I heard that Idaho changed its divisions to mirror the state of Utah-where they use a 5 division system. In the long run....it prob hurt the competition more than anything.
p.s. I believe that Idaho already has/had a meet of champions after track. I was invited to one my senior year....but couldn't attend because of a conflicting schedule
