Hey guys, i haven't posted in here ever, but my dad and i are painting the lines for the Shot Put and Discus at a track meet today and were wondering if anyone knew the dimensions of them. Thanks for any help, and good luck on the rest of your guys season.

The NFHS adopted for the 2007 Track and Field season a throwing sector of 34.92 degrees for both the shot put and the discus. Most states are using the new sector dimensions this year, as it was a saftey issue that is behind the change.

from the 2005-2006 NFHS Track and Field Manual:

"A 34.92-degree angle is the angle between the two equal sides of an isoscoeles triangle that has the unequal side 0.6 times the length of the equal sides...Measure out from the center of the circle with two tapes. Pull the two tapes tightly and seperate them by 12 meters at the 20 meter mark on each tape...The sector lines are centered on the stop board..."

there is also a chart that gives the corresponding measurments for different distances to maintain the correct angle:
@ 5 meters 3.00 meters
@10 meters 6.00 meters
@15 meters 9.00 meters
@20 meters 12.00 meters
@ 25 meters 15.00 meters

hope this is what you were looking for...
