When anyone knows results from the Outback Invitational today in Idaho please post them here, in particular the 3200 meters where Bolinder has been said to be challenging for sub 9:20.

If this is true, this is huge for Idaho and for those two young men. I would love to see them go under 9:10 at the state meet.

Yea it was a good race. the first mile was me sean Huey and Chio. the second mile sean died and chio stayed within five meters behind me. I was a little affraid going into the last 200 of him kicking and me not being able to match it. I kicked the last 200 and he didnt have anything left. Chio and I were both pleased with our times and we only have one wish.... that we could race eachother at state!!!!!!!
My final time was 9:24.05
joh mering won the 800 and the 1600 with 155 and a 424. it was a good week!!!

BOLINDER, You need to get into Golden West, and consider NON. I think you have a real good chance of getting around 9:05 by seasons end.

That race showed you HAVE the POTENTIAL to be one of the greatest distance runners ever to come out of Idaho. I would say you are on a path to argue as the greatest.
Run every race with that much tenacity and sub 9 is a great possibility.

Coach Mills has talked to a couple of us about gong to golden west. I would love to go.
as for NON It is a little too far away and a lot of money but I think Golden West will be just fine for me!
Thanks!!!

you run under 9:20 in Idaho and alot of people are going to want to send you places.
I did not focus on the 3200 enough in high school. My senior year I ran the 8/16 double at state and won them both easily. I wish I had run the two mile competitively, but I did not. That should be your event, screw the 16, Armon is going to be pretty tough to beat in that, you can get him in the 32.

You run consistently under 9:20 anywhere and you will have people wanting you to run many places. But is that what it's all about?
Remember in Idaho the 3200 is the first day of State and the 1600 is the second day. With over 24 hours of rest between races the 1600 will be anyone's race, and while some may be giving the race to Michael already, the race must still be run. A 4:27 in mid April does not equate to much of anything come May 19th. The entire group of District 3 runners will have much to offer in terms of competition. Don't count anyone out just yet.
Eastcoach, extoiling that after one race a runner can be ranked with the greatest runners is like saying after one home run that guy will make the Hall of Fame. It's just one race of many to be run. To put those notions into the conversation right now is far to premature. Potential is just that potential, there are far too many variables to start talking about being the greatest right now. How about striving to be consistent in workouts and staying injury free, how about striving to maintain a balance of academics, social life and running. How about striving to act in a humble and appropriate manner when no one is watching. Those are much more lofty goals than being one of Idaho's or Utah's or Saturn's Greatest Runners. As a coach yourself you should understand this and promote this, not inflate your or other people's athlete's heads with this kind of thing. This sport for far to long has taken the talented newcomers and put them on pedestals far to soon in their careers only to have them come any disillusioned and discouraged. Congratulate, yes, venerate, no.
As his coach I thank goodness that Bolinder has his head on straight and knows there is so much more to accomplish than running fast once or twice, it's about a career and about life not just a few races. Thanks for your interest but tone down the adoration, he will I am sure do great things in time.

Is Bolinder a Junior? I can see why his coach wants everyone to leave him alone right now.

You have a great coach, I hope you listen to every word he says. He is one of the best. Good luck Bolinder you have a bright future, as your coach says as long as you keep things in perspective.
Do well in school, it will allow you to run, running has already opened doors of opportunity in your life. But you will have a career one day, stay focused.
