A question to the list:

In Bergen County, NJ, in almost every major championship, they assign lane 2 to the #1 seeds in the 200m and 400m. When I inquired via e-mail to a meet official, it was explained to me that "in a race with two turns(??), the lane assignments are as follows: 2-3-4-5-6-1; Lane 3 for the 100m. Is this accurate, because no one else follows this format in seeding. The reason I'm inquiring about it is that obviously, it's affecting the performance of athletes and I just wanted to know if this is accurate info.

Uh,
Maybe you want to use a different forum for this question. What does that question have to do with this forum?

I always thought it was 3-4-2-5-1-6 for 6 lanes and 4-5-3-6-2-7-1-8 for 8 lanes.

But why is this here?

Look at the other threads, it's more like digital "help."

Anyways, I believe it is generally as you posted, 4-5-3-6-2-7-1-8 or something similar.
