Has anybody else checked out the entries for the meet? It looks insane for the disc and the shot this year. If you don't believe me then just look at this:

Shot
Eric Flores - 67'
Andy Oaker - 66'
Nick Robinson - 65'
Eric Werskey - 65'
Ben Stephen - 65'
Aaron Studt - 65'
Bo Taylor - 64'
Wes Wright - 63'
Israel Machovec - 63'

Disc
Bo Taylor - 214'
Geoffrey Tabor - 201'
Nick Robinson - 197'
Eric Werskey - 196'
Chris Cralle - 191'

Plus tons in the mid-high 180s, not to mention some of the other throwers who might be getting their PR at the meet. I know of at least one thrower who isnt on that list who recently hit 197 and is looking to make a name for himself at the meet. Throw in Henning in the hammer throw and you have the makings of an AMAZING meet.
Luke Bryant - 196'

this is sans Darius Savage, who PRed at shot with a 66' plus throw and made a very great 205' discus throw at the CAl state meet

Cameron Carter also threw a 197-198 at the cal state meet, took third i believe, but i don't see either entered, so that's unfortunate

Neither of them are entered in the Golden West meet or Junior Nationals. My guess would be Darius may be reporting to UCLA for football soon but I may be wrong.

I'm just shooting to make the finals in both, but I'd really like to get top 6 in the disc.

Did anybody catch the predictions on the front page? I think they did a pretty solid job with most of the stuff. A few things I would have predicted differently, but overall very good.

Here are my "thoughts" for what could happen at the meet:

Disc-
1) Bo Taylor. This guy seems to be able to throw 200 in his sleep. I don't think anybody will touch him as he seems to be riding a pretty big hot streak right now.
2) Eric Werskey. He was focusing on shot for the last month due to him fouling out of the discus in sectionals, but he came back with his first discus meet in 4 weeks and threw 186 in the rain at the Midwest Meet of Champions. Look for mid 190s from him
3) Geoffrey Tabor. I want to maybe say a dark horse sneaks in here, but you have to give credit where credit is due. 200' as a sophomore is no small task. He's been struggling a litlte bit lately, and maybe the traveling from one end of the country to the other with Golden West and Nike will take its toll, but I think he comes through. If not, look for a rested guy like Chris Cralle to step up and make things interesting.

Shot-
1) Eric Flores. My main thought when seeing him throw indoors was "Oh my god, this kid's speed and technique are crazy." There is no way unless he is fouling (something I don't think he does much of) that he loses here. None, no chance. I personally think he will throw over 68 feet and challenge the meet record.
2) Ben Stephen. The #1 underclassman shotputter, he is ready to throw farther than ever right now. I've talked to him on and off since the winter, and he said he was planning to peak during the month of June. He even started his training 2 months earlier so he wouldnt be peaking and dominating during Junior Olympics. Well, it paid off. He PR'd by 4 feet!!! at the Indiana State Meet and has the strength to go much, much farther if he is on. Look for 70+ from him next year.
3) Andy Oaker. One of the quietest marks comes from this thrower from Missouri, but 66'3" is still a beast of a throw. I give him the edge over Werskey and a travel-tired Nick Robinson

Hammer-
1) Walter Henning. Bring your video cameras ladies and gentlemen, because you are going to see a new national record in the hammer throw. Absolutely no question Henning wins unless he fouls out.
2) Eric Flores - It would have been tough for Underwood to predict this one, but Eric Flores will throw the #2 mark in the natoin at this meet. This kid is the real deal. It's kind of a shame he won't be going Division I next year. I see Flores going 230+ and picking up 2nd place.
3) David Scheidt. Third place seems to be the hardest to predict, but I'll give Dave the edge based on experience. He sometimes struggles at the bigger meets, but tends to pick it up on his last throw or two. Wes Wright could also be a major player here. As demonstrative as humanly possible when he throws, Wes could build himself up to throw huge if he is doing well, but if he struggles as people who have been around him know he will take himself out of the meet with his screaming and yelling. Mike Zajac from Virginia could also make an impact at around 210'

I don't know Javelin so I'm not going to pretend like I do and guess for them. I'm interested to see what everybody else thinks...post any predictions here.

I agree, except I can see Nick Robinson being a factor in both shot and discus and I think Flores will be way ahead of the pack in the shot. Ben has foul trouble at times and he BARELY made the final at Indoors. Remember, you get three throws to make the final, and when you're rotational, it can be devastating if you're even a little off. I think Luke Bryant will sneak in also and possibly grab a 1-3 medal. I know this year looks stacked, but so was last year, and look at the actual results. Some big names will fall again this year, and some smaller names will step it up. Think of Tommy Killen last year. I think there will be ~4 to 5 guys 190 and above, and the rest of the 180 throwers will battle for the final and that All-American spot. In shot, I can see ~60'6 or 61 making the final.

yeah robinson has a legit shot to got 1st to 3rd i think......at goldenwest he was off terribly though. had a defenite foul problem. If he fixes it by saturday, things could be interesting for 1st place.

I was wondering about that. The disc was weird.

It seemed like that shot ring at Golden West had the plague....way low throws!! Well, except you Geoff... What was the deal with the ring?

BTW, I guess I'll be seeing you at Nike's. I'm seeded crappy, I'm the last discus thrower in the 1st flight and like the 4th guy in shot. Piece of crap random seeds..

some of the guys thought it was a little slick. one thing I didn't like was the lines weren't marked well and you couldn't tell where it landed. maybe a mental thing for some of the guys. I really dunno. everyone was wayyyyyyyyyy off except for a few guys.

Another thing that seemed to bother some people in the meet so I've heard is that there was almost no time from the conclusion of the disc to the awards ceremony to the start of shot. That's why some of the guys who didn't throw disc didn't have as much trouble. But there had been past complaints about the quality of the ring.
