4x8- Howell won in like 8:00
1600- Switzer broke 60 to win in 4:12...came home in like 2:03. Boyle was about 2 seconds back, and I think Pitcock and Anderson were around 4:17.
800- Boyle 1:53, Switzer 1:54, Howell 1:55, Lakeland 1:57, A. French (Howell) 1:58
3200- Switzer won in 9:17. The top 6 were really seperated from everyone else. Little Anderson was 6th in 9:34, but I don't remember who all else was in there.

Damn nice days for Switzer and Figgins!!!
Congrats to everybody.
I think it's time to start the Switzer Mile Time pool. 4:12/1:54/9:17 is an incredible triple.

I just want to post a little more on my race. I never thought i would be mad after making it to state. I wanted second place, i just made a few bad choices during the last 1600 that costed me it. gahhh
I also have a question, do they have 1 or 2 heats of the 3200 at state?

From the Michigan Coaches' Listserve:
"Results from the D2 regionals in Comstock Park credit Clint Allen from
Muskegon Orchard View with a time of 10.03!!!
If this time is correct than it is the fastest time ever run by a
Michigan HS runner and a NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RECORD.
Allen Jefferson ran a 10.55 at the state finals and the Nation record
is 10.13 by Derrick Florence of Galveston, TX in 1986.
However, if you think for one minute that this record will be ratified,
guess again.
Was this 100 meter event really timed FAT? The Muskegon Chronicle said
it was but there were many other events posted that were timed in
tenths.
Was there a wind gauge present? We all know the answer to that.
Although there undoubtably was no wind gauge I don't believe there was
any favorable winds last night in the Grand Rapids Area.
Was the race run at 100 meters?
Lets hope that a wind gage and FAT time will be in GR for the state
finals and the West Michigan Invitational for Allen's next two races.
Clint Allen is fast! But ----- is he the fastest USA runner all time?

switzer was given 1:53.9 official time in the 800.
Geena Gall ran 4:45 in the 1600 at holly regional. She outkicked jenny Morgan of Clarkston on the last lap. Gall also ran 2:17 in the 800 and Morgan ran 10:33 in the 3200.
Gall's 4:45 is the 3rd best time in the nation and second fastest time in state history.

Again from the same listserve:
"Dear Jim (and others) -
Clinton Allen is an amazing runner. He had a great day, and he ran very fast. Orchard View has a great team, they are much more than just one guy. They will definately make some noise at Caledonia in two weeks.
Mr. Moyes you are correct to have several concerns about the 100 meter time. We had a minor tailwind (probably 4 meters per hour or 8-10 MPH), it was a swirling wind and no wind meter was present. Many of us near the finish line had 10.33 to 10.38. This is not totally fair because few people could actually get "on the line." I personally had him in 10.34 from straight up the slope from the line, and then had time to easy split out my runner (who took 2nd) in 10.81. The finish line crew gave my runner a final time of 10.79 (close to what I had).
They did not use FAT for the race times. If it was FAT my kid would have been closer to 11.00. They may have used a video system for breaking ties but they did not use FAT - no pyro bright flash for the starting gun nor was it a cable attached to the starting gun system.
Also it would be very unfair to all of the athletes in our region if we used FAT and the other 9 regionals in D2 didn't all use FAT. It would severely alter the seed times for finals.
Did he run very fast? Yes. Will he be a heavy favorite at state this year (and next)? Yes. Did he run 10.03 - no way possible."

Morgan ran 4:51
Liz Mengyan was 3rd (Clarkston), just missed sub-5. Loads of girls qualified. Same in the 3200M.
Port Huron Northern's Casey Robinson 100M kid in 10.5x.
Curtis Volmar of Grand Blanc ran 4x800M relay leg, then 4:24(1st)/1:55(1st)/9:50-high I think(3rd).
Lake Orion qualified top 3 in the 110H. Ryan Allison won that and 300H easily going away.

BTW, forgot to mention that I had Gall splitting 56 in the 4x400M.
I scanned the D1 boy's distance results, because I was curious of how tough the additional time standards were to hit. Indeed, there weren't very many additional qualifiers: 3200R - 3, 1600M - 3, 800M - 8, 3200M - 7. Relatively small distance fields at State for D1 guys.
Also, out of 9 regions, the number of athletes/relays to hit the additional qualifying times were: 3200R - 19, 1600M - 17, 800M - 22, 3200M - 15.
Weakest guys D1 distance regional - TCC. Out of the 4 distance events and 8 qualifiers, only twice was the time standard met.
Strongest guys D1 distance regional - Milford. At least 6 qualified in the 800M & 3200M (they only listed top 6), and 4 in the 1600M & 3200R. Ypsi Lincoln was also strong as 14 qualified.
