He beat his own D3 record by 1.5 seconds!!! Only him and another guy have ever gone under 1:48!!

I'm not exactly sure, but I don't think he was quite this good when he was in high school. Plus he probably liked Williamette or something.

He must have been pretty decent before college if he hadn't lost a race in 7 years dating back to sophmore year in hs.

Wanted a smaller school maybe. Liked Willamette a lot. Clearly he isn't any worse off for it.

for some people, i.e. Symmonds, maybe D3 makes him a better runner. He can peak when it matters when he runs with much better competition later on in the season while others are burning out...

just throwing it out there...I know this isn't always the case

Their state records show he ran 1:53.62/4:20.02 in 2002.
