Does anyone know of any meets with steeplechase in New England for the rest of this summer? Perferably on the weekend, and in Eastern Mass./NH/Maine, but if you know of one anywhere else in New England, please post it. Thanks.

yeah, have you guys seriously been doing track training with speedworkouts and peaking since may? im no expert, but wouldnt you be better off putting track to bed and building up mileage for cross in a few months?
and on another note, steeple is far less fun than it looks.
far less.
but yes, the water pit is wicked cool, when its clean water.

Jeff don't even think about it, just keep up the mileage and get ready for xc like the J Rags said.

ok, fully agreed. everyone should run steeple exactly once. after that, god have mercy on your souls if you so choose to repeat it.
ok im kidding, steeple is indeed the most amazing and entertaining event ever. however, it is without doubt the single most painful event ever if you race it all out, bar none (i.e. racing through the water pit, not bathing in it). ive only run it once in 10:12, with a closing lap of about 85 seconds. painful, yes. and yes i am planning on running it many more times if i can. plus, if you run steeple in hs, it looks really good to college coaches if you do well.

No, track runs pretty much all summer. I know of meets through the end of this month in my area anyway, but they don't have steeple. These are open meets, not high school meets.

I have no XC season to build up to, so that isn't an issue. And I have run it once, at USATF regionals, I qualified for nationals, but can't afford to take the time off from work during the week to go. I am hoping there is a meet with steeple in the area, so I can run it at least once more this summer.

Even if there was XC in the fall to worry about, how is running a track race over the summer any different than running a road race? As long as you don't do it every weekend, I don't think a race or 2 over the summer is going to kill your xc season.
Unless you fall in the water pit and drown. That would suck.
