im a 400 runner just started this year.. is a 51.4 open ok?

sounds good to me, but what year are you. Im a college frosh and i went
9th-55.1
10th-54.8
11th-51.2
12th-50.5
13th-48.5 (split)

i was an xc kid all my life until this year when i ran the 400 once and i ran a 51.4 obivously and im a senior... i want to break 48 i know i can do it i just neet o be pushed

mike, dont lie. you ran the 400 last year. rember when the meet was on the line, and cramer cought you in the 4x4. then river won by 3. i rember that. ;)

51.4 is a great time for a first time runner. However I think that breaking 48 is an unrealistic goal. Its a lot faster than you probably think. I have obviously never seen you run so I don't really know, but for a cross country kid to run sub 48 would be phenominal. Running sub 50 is a great accomplishment for any high school runner so maybe you should aim your goal towards that. I wouldnt be disapointed though if you didnt run sub 48, or even sub 49.

51.4 is a very good time for your first time running to 400, however I agree that trying to go 48 this year is a pretty long ways to go, but who am I to judge you because I have probably never seen you run before and can't determine how fast you are capable of running.
