I'm gonna be a senior this year and I'm just starting to pick up the hammer. I'm out to around 150ish on my 1 turn and I'm tryin to get a hold of the 2 turn now. I've heard that there's some hammer meets and regular meets that compete the hammer but I don't know where, when, etc. So if any of you cali hammer throwers could shed some light on this for me, I'd love to get some meet experience under my belt. Thanks

I throw in about three meets a year. One is the weight pent at Fresno State, last year it was in February and I think one of teh junior colleges in So Cal does one at the same time. There are all comers at colleges before the regular season starts but only a couple of them throw hammer. There is a California High School Hammer Championship the day after the state meet usually at a university near the state meet, should be at Davis in 2007. The junior olympics has started having it also and it is supposed to be an actual event in 2007. Good luck hammer is my favorite but finding a meet and a facility is difficult. There are many in Southern Cal they have Throw Far club who goes to many meets try to find a member.

Thanks a lot for the info. How far are you throwing with the 12 lb hammer? Are you 4 turning?
