Saw this in another thread, being used for distance, and I thought it would be cool to apply it here especially since there is such a dead time right now. So pretty simple: who do you think had the best recruiting classes for the throws this year? I'll give my list, leaving out Arizona so I stay impartial.

1. UCLA
2. UGA
3. Indiana
and then I don't know...maybe Kansas State, Missouri, Auburn, Minnesota? Any of those guys? They all signed some big names. I wish that the college choices were more complete but what can you do.

Give 3, give 5, give however many you want. Hopefully this will get some discussion going.

Indiana:

Eric Werskey - 196' DT, 65'6" SP (world junior team)
Paul Haas - 182' DT, 58' SP
Patrick Dalton - 179' DT, 59' SP

A little unheralded but still runs 3 deep, which not a lot of other schools can claim.

A question about Georgia...is Nate Rolfe trasnferring there?

Who did Auburn get? Clayton and who else?

I would say UCLA the UGA also. Iz and from what Coach Babbitt told me when I talked with him, some JuCo transfer throwing over 200 disc and 60 shot.

Minnesota's is decent and Indiana's is strong and about to get a whole lot stronger next year. ;) Eh Keller?

UVA had a decent recruiting class, although last year was a monster year for us. A 59' shot, 180 disc guy; then a 180 12lb. Hammer thrower, and a 175 foot 7.26k hammer transfer

yeah i talked to caoch babbit the other day, we are getting nathatn rolfe, david schiet, another guys from like northwestern or something like that who will be a redshirt freshmen throwing about 215 in the hammer, and a late spring juco transfer who has throw 202 in the disc and 62 in shot. but Ucla will be stacked too with those four guys and a good girl thrower from hawaii wonder how they got them all there

Yea that girl from Hawaii is Careena Onosai. Apparently she's a really raw talent and Seilala sees a lot of potential in her. She had previously committed to Hawaii for volleyball but UCLA offerred a full ride so she jumped on it. There's a story about it here http://www.hondareport.com/free/archives/000578.html

I don't know who else Auburn got... I was kinda just throwing out the schools where some of the bigger guys went (Clayton, Eric Thomas, Aaron Studt, etc.)

Who was the high school hammer guy you got? I'm a little lacking in some of this stuff I wish I had gone to NON to get some of the dirt. I figured you guys would have a big recruiting class because they give Coach Lane lots of money to spend haha. I also heard you guys added a 73 foot shot putter. I think he might be European because he's kinda old. Don't know what his eligibility status is yet.

As for Indiana....if my sources are correct they SHOULD be getting a big name signing in the Class of 2007. I still have to confirm with the athlete himself that he's going there. The plan changed a little bit but he still should be delivered if I had a guess.

We also added Jeremiah Korn and Brian Korn, a pair of brothers. Biran is a Juco transfer who is a 175' 16lb hammer guy, and Jeremiah threw close to 59 with the 12lb shot (reportedly stands in the 57 range if I remember correctly). And we added Dan Austin, a 209' discus thrower from DIII Williams College.

Welcome to the team Keller.. Names adam, pole vaulter at Arizona, were pretty excited about the throws this year, should be an insane class with lots of depth, barring any injuries I see at least 4 guys over 60 in the shot and deff. 2 maybe three guys over 200 in the disc, the third guy being shawn best! Hopefully football doesn't mess him up to much!

Yeah Beans could do it big...the good thing about football is it might slim him down like Coach wants him to be. As long as he's hungry (no pun intended) he's a force to be reckoned with. I would say Korion, the incoming freshman, has a legit shot at 200' as well. Hammer we will be solid with 2-3 guys in hopefully the 185-190' range with Sola closer to 200'. Javelin we have Saku who should hopefully dominate like he should be. Overall it's a crazy year. We have a definite chance to make a run at the national title.
