I guess Cranston doesn't know what he is talking about. ;)

I don't understand how they can even be in the top 20. They lost every runner from their top seven. Unless there is something that I do not know.

They had the number one ranked JV team in the northeast.

a good summer by a group of no names. My junior year we entered with our entire top 5 from the previous year gone and no returning seniors. One late season injury kept us from winning the whole show. That is what is great about xc - hard work wins. Talent is great but that alone can't wing 5k xc. Granyed, I have no idea about Cranston but I love xc b/c that anonymous team or individual can wreak HAVOC if they were smart enough and disciplined enough to throw down during the summer.

could be based on conjecture since that is what all preseason polls are based on

Absolutely. My assessments all have a solid basis on conjecture. What else?

I have never placed much stock in SJ rankings in the last six years, The Post seems to be out of sync with much of the XC happenings in preseason.... Also to actually move up in the rankings in the top 5 area you really have to win at the SJ Open, Shore Coaches, even Sectionals. Most people claim that they are biased, and in some ways they are. However, there is no clear pattern in this assessment. My advice, treat it as you would a tabloid story, and smile.
