papazian is only ranked 11th? i bet he'll finish better than that. even last year he finished 5th or 6th.

Has Bobby Papazian run a race on the track yet this year--indoor or out?

If I remember right Bobby was even lower last year going in than he was this year. I seem to remember him being like the second to last. He managed to run much better than the seedings last year and I expect him to do it again this year. Im assuming he used his MOC time to get in so that means 10 kids at better than 917, which should mean a great race. Another point though seems like the time to get in this year was a little slower. Goldberg was the last one in last year and had run 927 this year Perrella near the bottom and he ran 932.

From the Penn Relays Guide Book section
"Updates of team times for the 4x800m and Distance Medley Relays in Carnival-approved meets must be reported to the Chair of the Secondary School Advisory Committee or to a member of the Advisory Committee not later than 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 17.
Accepted entrants will be posted on the website on Monday, April 18 (4x800 and DMR). Entrants not on this list will not be allowed to compete."
So, 4x800 and DMR teams posted next Monday.

also is sedberry, tauro, clausen running the mile or 3000?
Go to the Girls Thread on this board.
The OCHS Girls are entered in the DMR. I believe that would eliminate Sedberry from the individual 3000m

penn relays takes times from last year to as well as considers xc performance and honors won i believe. bobby was 6th last year in 8:42 behind only 1 other underclassman (thorne). he ran 9:16 (3200) outdoors last year. state xc champ. 3rd at footlocker NE. NSIC all american over 5k last year. out of all of this, he is 11th? steve murrdock is #1 seed with PR of 9:11i. there are 9 guys in there running between 9:11 and 9:16? possible, but unlikely. papazian will finished better than 11th, u can count on that.

I believe all the NJ runners will do very well in the 3000. Some of these boys had injuries during the winter and still managed to run decent times at the MOC. I would not be surprised if there are 3 in the top 10.

Anyone notice that Dan Mc. of Shen is in the 1500? I'm guessing this means no DMR for them.
I figured that they would have an outside shot at winning. Would've been nice to see him run against Forys.
Oh well.

i don't think this is set in stone, as in you can be excepted in an individual event and a team event, then choose which one you want to be in.

They brought back the 1500 again?? :)
Should be a good one..I am surprised a bit since Dmac is a junior that they are not going 4 x 8 after their 7:49 or DMR

Then what's the point of Penn's hub-ubb about not being able to double? Why even bother accepting someone in the mile and a team in the DMR if you KNOW going in before hand that they won't do both. Isn't that just taking a spot away from either a team or an individual?
With what time did Papizian get into the 3000m?

papazian had a 9:16 3200 at last years MOC OUtdoors, is a top 3 returner from last year Penn 3K
and was a State Champ in Xc and FL q'er..all I am sure were considered as they should be
The guide book says that for any individual event other then the javelin,
discus or 400 hurdles, the mark must come from this past winter's season.
Therefore, none of those things that you mentioned should count.

As a top 5 returner, I doubt they have any qualms about putting Bobby P in, what is your clear underlying issue here?
The fact that Cassandra Walker of Hackensack, who was second in the
TJ at Penn last year, was told she wasn't accepted this year because she
did not have a jump far enough this winter. She didn't jump all winter
because of an injury from last spring, but is now back jumping. I am just
looking for some consistency here for what they do!

I know that one of the 5 NJ entries did suffer from some injury issues over the winter. This does not mean that he put in a bunch of zeroes, but had this not been present he would have been in Vancouver, WA, with future Buff teammate Pannone and probably run an indoor race or two.
There have definitely been cases of kids getting into Penn without a mark from the indoor season. At least Papazian has run the time and has the credentials.
To answer another question, yes Bobby has run a "race" or a few outdoors...he was in fact on the track at the same time as Scotland at Prep Relays...putting the finishing touches on a DMR well north of 12minutes!!!
Hopefully a good day for Bobby and all Jerseyans...for what its worth this is his 3rd Penn 3k and last Penn appearance for at least a few years, as the Buffs will not be there anytime soon.
