I just noticed that Warwick Valley boys "B" team averaged 16:44 and would have taken about 10th out of 80 teams in merged results("A" team took 2nd).

JV race

1. 26 WARWICK VALLEY 'B' (16:44.8 83:44.0)
==========================================
1 1 Mike Fox 16:29.0
2 2 Dan Prial 16:32.1
3 4 James Hurley 16:41.6
4 5 Ryan Florkiewicz 16:47.1
5 14 Brian Rogan 17:14.4
6 ( 15) Chase Laster 17:18.3

their 'B' team could beat a lot(possibly 75%) of teams that will qualify for the state meet this fall. Most of the lower classes and even a couple of A/AA teams possibly. To think these kids are "jv"?

Wow!! They must have a nasty training program over there. That would put their #5 at 170 for speed rating and #7 at 168.

So....

I think a lot of it has to do with A) The atmosphere and B) The enourmous size of their team (I heard somewhere they have like 80+ guys alone). When you have that many people, somewhere in there you'll get some good ones. Eggs in a basket theory and all that. Not that I'm saying they do that. But successful programs with depth are often a LOT bigger than other teams.

65 would be huge in section V. We only have a few over 25 out of like 80 teams.

The Woodlands in Texas too. Both teams have well over 100 guys, and both are perenial powerhouses.
