I've been feeling really tired lately in my runs, especially in my legs. I noticed it especially in a meet today when I really couldn't get myself to run fast. I'm considering taking a week off to get some recovery, but should I just wait till the season ends or just rest now? How has resting for a week or more affected you? as in does it take long to get back in to shape?

i felt that just recently. my legs were dead i would say for a good 2 weeks. i finally decided to ice bath and take one nice day of easy paced distance (about 30-45 seconds off normal) and now i feel much better. also, do strides after workouts barefoot. it always helps my legs feel better after a hard workout.

I've been feeling the same way the last week or so. I'm going to try to just back off a little bit, but still get some valuable work in, just hoping that it will go away.

dude you dont have totake an entire week off. I felt the $hits and I took Saturday off, and today I hammered my workout. Felt like a smooth flowing horse.

I was feeling really flat and kinda discouraged about my running, so I just had fun and took my mind off of running for 3 days, and now i've come back with two straight hour runs(1 hard) and my legs feel great and I'm much more motivated. Don't be afraid to take a few days off, but once you let it get to 4 with no activity you will start to lose your fitness.

I too was feeling flat and crashed after the first 3 weeks of the season. I told my coach, did all the workouts but slowed them a little. Also maybe do workouts in trainers instead of spikes if you do them in spikes now. I didn't take anytime off just kept plugging away and making sure I was eating right and getting enough sleep. Definitely make sure you're getting enough sleep and enough food. It wouldn't hurt to take a two or maybe three days off, but don't go more than that. I'd reccomend just doing a real easy day of slow running, and if that still feels like ****, take a day or two off, then try it again.

Wow I'm going through the same thing right now. My legs do feel tired but the biggest problem I have is my lower back. It feels really tight and sore and can't seem to stretch it out. Today is the second day that I haven't run at all. Is anyone else having these back problems and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling it right now too. We are roughly 4 weeks in and I feel tired almost every workout. Make sure to take your easy days easy so you can get recovery. A day off on the weekend would probably help too. Also, if you are already running in a lot of meets, maybe cut down the number of events or distance you do at less important meets. Other than that, time will probably help you get used to training harder more consistantly.
