Nothing up yet for complete 5A/6A results, but the word from the meet is that the SMNW streak of championships remains intact. Olathe East Girls avenge their earlier loss at Districts/Regions for the win, according to the reports coming in here:

1A-4A at Wamego are already available-

Wrigs77:

Congratulations on the boys and girls results at last weekend's regionals and good luck to the Aquinas teams at the State meet.

I was there today and saw the two Aquinas teams win the boys and girls 5A Kansas State championships. Now I can say congratulations to the runners, coaches and parents. Very good job to all of you.

Going with 19th place as a field benchmark in the 6A race w/about 100 competitors. 1A-4A not considered due to the different course, 5A not considered prior to this year due to the different distance of 3200m:

'06
19th place 15:54.1
1 Olathe East 74 pts in 15:55.0 / +0.9
2 Manhattan 90 pts in 16:01.3 / +7.2

'05
19th place 16:02.2
1 SM Northwest 92 pts in 16:13.4 / +11.2

'04
19th place 16:14.7
nobody within 10 sec of the benchmark, 3 teams in the +12 to +15 sec differential range.

'03
19th place 15:54.0
1 SM Northwest 48 pts in 15:37.6 / -16.4
2 Blue Valley North 71 pts in 15:38.4 / -15.6

'03 saw a pair of very strong girls teams and yesterday's championship & runner-up team efforts look to be the best since then.

same 19th place 6A benchmark, 5A & 6A considered throughout the time frame:

'06
19th place 17:21.4
1 (5A) St. Thomas Aquinas 53 pts in 17:10.9 / -10.5
1 SM Northwest 65 pts in 17:14.2 / -7.2

'05
19th place 17:01.2
1 SM Northwest 35 pts in 16:21.9 / -39.3

'04
19th place 16:56.9
1 SM Northwest 41 pts in 16:38.9 / -18.0

'03
19th place 16:44.0
1 SM Northwest 59 pts in 16:31.8 / -12.2
2 Emporia 86 pts in 16:43.8 / -0.2

Still blows me away that the SMNW team in '05, far and away the strongest state effort in this time frame, wasn't extended an NTN invite.

I don't understand the final poll...Olathe East girls won 6A state and in the final poll their not ranked first...De Soto won girls 4A and their not ranked first either beating Baldwin in the regionals and state. Can someone give this some clarification? Thanks.

If the poll you are referring to is the one I am thinking of (KCCTFCA) then it is because they do the last poll just before state. They then use the state meet results as the final indication of where a team stands in its class. I hope this helps, if not I can dig some more.
