MVC's is going to be one of the best races this year with a close finish as always. i see haverhill barely getting it. woodman and penney and leary have been improving alot and fullertons 1st place finish is a always a nice to have with wang at 3 or 4. BTW, ne one the Meet Record? does fullerton have a shot and will he go for it?

ya, its gonna come down to haverhill, chelmsford, and methuen. Iam not saying that the other schools arent good cause they are, dracut and billerica improved alot from last year, lowell is always competitive and andover has a good group, central catholic is young and they showed some promise for the future by winning the freshman Battle of the Border Meet. They just dont have enough to take down the top 3.

Personally, I just see the mvc race as a two team dogfight between haverhill and chelmsford, I just dont think methuen can compete with them in the invitational format unless they have a strong surge for the MVC meet and show us something we havent seen yet this year

I agree. Methuen will need a strong race from their 4th and 5th runners. This will be a close one.

You better bite your tongue until the meets over. It's a slim chance but their 4 and 5 guys are a hell of alot better than they were back in early September.

Remember back in 2004
Methuens Dual Meet Record 6-3
They came back to win the MVC meet by two points over Haverhill when probably less people where expecting them to win it then now. I think they also went on to beat the three teams they lost to in dual meets again at EMASS two weeks later coming in third behind Newton North and Brockton.
Now Im not saying Methuen is going to definately win it because I agree Haverhill and Chelmsford are the ones to beat but I don't think you can ever count out Methuen at the end of the season.

anddd chelmsford boys are going to win. they are undefeated so far, and they are looking really good. also i think that chirs brown will win. vinny cheveliar, mike louis, ryan, greg wilson and john doherty will be top 20. and mike foughy is also really fast.

Haverhill vs Chelmsford
Fullerton H 16:15
Brown C 16:27
Wang H 16:31
Chevalier C 16:51
brown is a talented runner but there is now way he can beat pat, i can seem him hanging on for 2 miles but thats it and as for saying wang will lose to chevalier is bold. to make up 20 seconds is alot, chevalier could crack the top 10 but i will be shocked if he beat wang.

I think chevilar will beat wang in the mvc race simply because I have reviewed his times and I see that he comes up big in big meets, he is just the type of kid that you want running for you in a big mvc race and I am confident he will outkick wang and get the big win for chelmsford

chelmsford has a very legit shot at taking it this year but you just cant count out haverhill and methuen they are two quality teams but i'd give chelmsford the slight edge with haverhill a close second

If you didnt see, Wang also runs well in big meets, look at his time at the catholic memorial race. He is good but i doubt he will beat wang. Haverhill and chelmsford was a big (important) meet and he was 20 seconds behind. i really doubt he can pull that off.

how is fullerton gonna loose to brown at MVC's. he toyed with him at the dual meet blowing him away in the last mile and he ran about 40 secs faster at boston invite. brown is good and is a legit top 10 runner in the state, but fullerton has 2 much experience and speed to loose.

ok, people need to settle down, the bottem line is, Chelmsford boys have proved to be the best in the mvc, they'll do it yet again at mvc's, end of story [and Brown doesn't even need to beat Fullerton for this to easily happen]

Yeah your right Chelmsford has proved to be the best, but not by much. I could see Haverhill or methuen taking it. Its not a done deal just because they went undefeated doesnt give them the victory already. I wouldnt count anyone out at this point. There are always suprises at this meet.

That's ridicoulous, when I ran there early this year I do not remember them so it must be something new, but that is not part of cross country because the hay bails are not natural they are obviously put there, a fallen tree or branch is part of the race but the effect these hail bails can have on the mvc race could really change results a lot for runners and we could see a huge change in the top 10

I totally agree that MOST of the time nothing will happen and the race will be completly valid but there is a chance that a premeir runner could fall from forces strickly not his own fault, do to another runners misstep over a haybail, even though I do think they bring excitment to a duel meet, a big mvc race like this they to me would be a little uncalled for just because as a runner like myself who puts a lotta time in during the summer, I would hate for my season to end that way
