Besides the Monster Fly's... what is everyones personal opinion about their favorite sprint spike? and why... (such as the Maxcats, Powercats, superfly's, japan lite-ning's, demolishers, bislets and zoom rival's) ((or anything else worth mentioning))

Check out this site to see the spikes listed- http://www.eastbay.com/promo/default.cfm?SID=9601&module=promo&action=view5001233&promoId=5001233&cm_mmc=Affiliates-_-Dyestat-_-Horizontal%20Banner-_-082106%20Backpage%20Banner

i own rivals, lite-ning, and maxcats and i would pick the lite-ning over the others. It has a much more aggresive plate which i think works out better for me in those events

are you looking for personal preferences or a recommendation?

personally I love my powercats. i haven't tried some other favorites (litenings, G5's, monsterflys), but I see no need to.

if you want a recommendation, we need more info:
whether you're a power sprinter/agile runner (if you're unsure, height/weight will imply it), your price range, wide/narrow/normal foot, any focus on a particular sprint, etc.

Well, this is what I run:

Indoor: (Any combo)
50mH
50m
300m
4x400m
4x240m
SMR

Outdoor: (Any combo)
110mH
300mH
4x400m
400m

Now, with these events I chose the Maxcat's for them. Since in outdoor 3-out-of-4 of my events are over 200m, I like something that is aggressive (not in stiffness), handles the turns well, feels good on my feet, keeps me on the track, and helps me feet react well off hurdles (especially the turn in he 300mH). In indoor though, I like the all around flexibility of the spikes.

My only issue is I might need stiffer ones for the 110mH and 50mH and 50m.

I think I am right in between power and agile... I am almost 6'1'' I wiegh 163 lbs. and I am recognized for having a great start right out of the blocks..if it helps at all I have pretty strong legs... but yeah thats about it, what would you recommend for that?

(its also only my second year... I have never ran the 400, but I will this year.. I have a narrow foot and I seem to do well on turns. previously I have focused on the 100 and the 200)

I use Celar's for hurdling.. really great shoe for going around turns. (200,300H,400,400H)

For the 110H/100/55/65/55H/65H probably something different.. like maxcats.

i don't really know non-nike spikes that well, so excuse me for being biased.

I would recommend, in order of preference: OG celars (if you can find them), powercats, maxcats. I have a feeling asics cyberflash would slot in there somewhere, but I dunno where to put it. any other opinions?

the celars look like an interesting shoe... do they even have laces? how are they on the turns? are maxcats good on turns?

i'm pretty sure celar 2's don't have laces. celar 2's are supposedly not nearly as good as celar 1's, tho.

i have nothing to offer as to "good on turns". I have yet to wear a shoe that I disliked turning in (monsterfly's turn me off, tho.)

100-400

I would get celars or the new bigbrotha's(cellar 1 plate)

how does a spike like the superfly or a supercat that has 8 spikes differ from the maxcat or cellar that has only 5 spikes(besides the amount of spikes being the only difference)...is the main difference JUST traction?

I'm assuming by supercat you mean powercat.

That aside, anything superfly/powercat/G5/etc. all share the "superfly plate". Which is full length, very rigid, pretty light, and keeps you high on your toes. however, because it has 8 spikes, it is a bit heavier than, say, the celar I or maxcat plate. For me, number of spikes is less important than the general aggressive/relaxed nature of the plate. They just feel different.

thanks, you've helped a ton.. i think that the max cats are the thing for me. They are most similar to my zoom rivals(which aren't that bad). I feel its just time for an upgrade

Celar 2's have laces -- they're under the flap.

Good choice. They're a great spike, the hug your feet really well. I wear an 11normally in spikes, but I had to get an 11.5 (only size left, which is trainer size). They're such a secure shoe that i barely notice anything. They hug your feet on turns really well, and keep you going nicely.

I own the Superflys. i like 'em a lot, they're stiff, but flexible and comfortable too. also the spike plat is agressive and grips the track well. better outdoor than indoor, but nontheless i'd recommend the G5's.

I do mostly 400-800 but sometimes 200's, and I am a huge fan of the Nike Maxcats. My last 3 pairs of track shoes have been Maxcats.

I'm pretty good barefoot on the track for a 55. after that my feet hurt. grass is too slick tho.

spikes are still better than barefoot, though not by much.

Nope.

To me, almost every Nike spike on there is superior.

Agreed. I'd include the Asics cyber-series in the superiority complex.
