Who will win the NH Boys MOC?

Such a hard choice.

In my opinion, Eyob or Merra are the clear favorites, with Paulson more likely to challenge than anyone else (seems like his type of course). It seems like its more Eyob's type of course, but I also have a feeling that Merra is going to be in great shape. Dang, this race is going to be insane! Someone better videotape this.

Still haven't voted.

Edit: just edited out my scenario because I'm still not decided!

Merra sits and kicks on Eyob.

That was my scenario, I just can't decide how good I think it is, haha.

Yea i dont see how eyob can win. Merra will just hang and kick. eyob would have to gap anthony with almost a mile left to win, i just dont see it happening.

Who is Jon Christiansen?

You're underestimating Yob.

MoC '05 eYob 15:44-15:56
NE's '05 Merra 17:06-17:26
MoC Outdoor eYob 9:35-9:40
NE's Outdoor eYob 9:30-9:42
Coe-Brown Invite eYob 15:38-15:45

Not to bash Merra, but he's only 1-4 vs. eYob in the last 52 weeks.

With all that said, I think MacPhereson will win MoC. This course is an "A" cup, and he's the only contender with 4:20 Mile speed, and what a story it'd be. Yes, I realize track speed and cross country kicks are on two different sides of the spectrum, but if there's any course where track speed could make a difference, its this one.

Eyob beat Merra at the coe- brown meet, which is a pretty fast, flat course. There is about one 10-second hill and it's flat from there. It is pretty similar to the course at MOC.

edit: how bad were the conditions at the NE's last year? Everyone's times were way off and there were tons of upsets.

Also, Dylan Summers was only two seconds back of Merra when the conditions were worse, and only 5 secnds back from Eyob. He also had an amazing kick to catch and beat Alex McGrath by two seconds. Don't rule him out. If he's with the leaders, I think he can out kick them all.

I highly doubt Macpherson will win... and I won't say why for the internet is in Paulson's words "A big ****'in place."

I think it's going to be mainly a three man race between Merra, Eyob, and paulson...Dylan summers and Alex McGrath could have a good race tho and change everything.

I think it will be Eyob, he smoked everyone in the last 2 laps of the 3200 at this past spring's track MOC , and I think he has the foot speed to out kick Merra.

Summers most likely won't challenge and neither will MacPherson. You can't compare Summer's time to Eyob's and Merra's @ the class meets, because they both ran to win easily. He's a great runner, but theres just a huge difference from Summers to the Eyob/Merra types.

Merra has a lot of course experience, and deadly closing speed.

Eyob has great racing skills, along with great speed. If Eyob can gap Merra, he will win. Trouble is, I don't really know if he can do that.

Still haven't voted.

I don't think I'll be able to challenge for the MOC title, primarily because I'm not running. I have pnuemonia and while I expect to be better and run in New Englands, I will be resting this Saturday in order to kick off the last vestige of being sick.

Also, my money is on Zack Campbell for the win. . .but only if there's a torrential downpour, an earthquake, the grass begins to leak blood, and the sky falls down.

That's when he runs his best.

Eyob is going to win it, hands down. Eyob just ran away from Anthony Merra at Coe-Brown and ran his last mile in about 4:45.

One thing to remember about Eyob tho, is he was with Schroeder with about 800 to go at MoC last year, and Schroeder managed to gain 12 seconds on him, and Alex hall passed him in the last 100 and ended up with a 4 second lead, so I guess anything could happen.

But I see it as Eyob and Merra together for most of the race, with Eyob killing it in the last mile, nutralizing merra's kick. Their should be a sizable chace pack, that could maybe pick either merra or Eyob off, if one of them is having a bad race. The pack should include Zach Campbell, Matt Paulson, Dylan Summers, Ricky Hoyt, Alex McGrath, Jake Christiansen, Job Christiansen, John Little, and numerous Class L kids.

Edit: I was wrong, it was actually 18 seconds

If the race was based on overall dead sexiness I'd take Campbell for sure. Gotta go with Anthony in this one though.

eyob will take it i think
merra has a devestating kick (aka the kick heard round the world at L's 3200last year) but eyob will set a fast pace to dull merra's kick. eyob can cover flat ground really fast and you also cant overlook that he had the fastest time at class l's in the mud.

i think mcgrath might suprise tho, he stayed with merra for a while at the manch invite and i think he was only gapped in the end because merra is more of a power runner and that helps him on the hills. But seeing NashSouth is really flat i think mcgrath will place 3rd

Umm, in case you weren't aware, seeing as people in Michigan are kind of out in the loop and all, Zack's hair is gone. He's now only the 2nd sexiest runner in NH. Sorry for the news :(

Dylan Summers through the races...

Manch Invite 2005.....18:36
John Sanborn 2005...17:28
Class Meet 2005.......17:29
Manch Invite 2006....16:38
John Sanborn 2006...16:15
Class Meet 2006.......16:35 (on a day where times were an average of 40 seconds slow in the class I race)

Hows that for improvement? On his pace, he could be running 15:30 by saturday;)

First of all, the hill at coe-brown, which you go up twice, is far more than 10 seconds. It is at least 30 because, if you dont remember little stackhouse, It starts in the woods there and then up about 100 meters on the road. Still, the course is fast, but it's not the flattest course out there. It isnt similar to MoC at all, because MoC is mostly grass and Coe-Brown is mostly trail. MoC has no hills, besides short steep bumps.

2nd, NE's last year was a mud fest. Everyone's times were way off. The course is bad for a big meet anyway, with a narrow trail 200 meters after the start, so if you have a bad start, you're ruined for the rest of the race.

3rd, I dont think dylan summers is going to keep up with Eyob or Merra. Merra was running by himself, fell several times, was told to turn around in the race by an opposing coach, and still ran a good time on that terrible day. Eyob was also running by himself, and probably didnt even realize dylan and I were there. There was no way Eyob was going to let either of us beat him, if he even had to worry about us at all.
